Caution: Will not fit ALL so-called “1-inch bars.”
I can’t fault the seller that these collars didn’t fit on all my 1-inch bars. The specs are posted. However, it seems not all 1-inch bars are exactly 1-inch in diameter after all.I used these Climax collars on an old EZ-curl bar with threads/collars worn so badly they no longer tighten down completely. Also, one of the plate stops had come loose over the years.I used one on each side to make the weight-plate placement equal, and another one on each side to keep the screw-collars from backing out — four in all, and saved me the cost of buying an expensive new EZ-curl bar. Although fitting easily on that bar and another older threaded type bar, they were too tight on my newer, threaded dumbbell bars and on my older slide-collar type bars. The original collars for the latter measured about 1.050”. Obviously, these Climax collars weren’t designed for this particular 1-inch application in the first place. They also didn’t fit over the 1-inch round rolled-steel bar stock I’d used on my old homemade cable lat low-row machine built 28 years ago. I measured these bars with precision dial calipers (0.001” accurate) and discovered that they are not perfectly round, hence not precisely 1-inch in diameter. Varying by plus or minus 20 thou, depending on the point of measurement. This also proved to be the case with the older slip-on collar type barbell and dumbbell bars. I decided to try drilling them [collars] out to 1/32” over with an electric drill, my drill press being broken, but the attempt failed. Bad idea!A better one was to use a high-speed rotary grinder and grinding stone. This took a few minutes for each collar but worked well enough and didn’t really cost me anything except a little time. Despite that minor hassle, these are excellent quality collars. I’m now using them on several threaded bars to prevent the damned screw-collars from coming loose all the time.Although they’re not going to work on every so-called 1-inch bar, for me they turned out to be a decent deal considering there’s not much more than high-priced options of dubious quality [plastic] out there these days. They require a 5/32”, or 4mm Allen key for the set screw.

Set screw is not 5/16-18, it is 5/16-24
Quality of the collar is nice, it has a clear zinc finish. The set screw (grub screw for our UK friends) is actually 5/16-24, not 5/16-18. I see not only is this listed wrong in the product headline, but the attached dimensioned drawing also gives the wrong 5-16-18 thread. If you search for the C-100 collar at the Climax Metals catalog you'll see the correct 5/16-24 thread specified. The set screw has the expected 5/32" internal hex, and the finish looks like a black phosphate so this won't hold up well in a wet application. Decent product, I wish the country of origin was listed.

1 inch steel collars
1 inch steel collars with hex/ allen wrench screw.Fantastic collars. I originally bought four for two of my weight dumbbells. I just bought eight more for some of my other 1 inch weight dumbbells.Great quality. Tightened the screw with an allen wrench I had and it feels very tight. Perfect fit.Don't make the same mistake I did and buy those cheap plastic 1 inch collars. Instead by the solid steel 1 inch collars. The picture has an example of the cheap plastic ones that you don't want to buy. In the picture I also left the twist collar on too only because I had room but I would feel very comfortable just to put this collar on if I ran out of room on the bar.

Best Value
Overall is best value for what you pay. It does the job holding the rear axle in place on my vintage quarter midget. I wouldn't install it for more for racing or something that needs more durability. But it gets the job done. It's also slightly bigger than the measurement than for the size I ordered.

Worked perfectly for my use
Up at the country estate, my tractor blew a seal on one of the hydraulic cylinders. We had it fixed but the shaft was bent so I replaced the pair. I wasn't going to buy the "name brand" parts as they were way over priced. The alternatives were not exactly the same but they worked; I just needed a spacer on the pin to keep the cylinder centered. These worked perfectly and keep the shaft centered on the pin. I would do it again. It was cheaper than putting a bunch of washers on it.

I am a cheapskate retired machinist.
The form, fit, & function on this product is just about aerospace quality. HOWEVER, notice the tolerance on the inside diameter. They are telling the truth. If you go buy 1" hot rolled bar stock (I, Cheapskate) you'll typically find it to be about 0.040" over. This is a no-go situation. Keep this in mind particularly if you don't have access to machine tools.

Fantastic for what I used it for
Used this as a bearing stop but the set / grub screw was too short for anything, Replaced it with a longer one and I was good to go.
