The so called 'nut files' are actually torch cleaning files. They are not made for cutting slots on bone nuts, although they can be used for that purpose as an alternative. They bend easily, the cutting is corse, and takes ages to cut a slot. If you have guitar nuts with pre-cut slots and you want to make them bigger/deeper, this can be used for that. If you want to cut decent slots, torch cleaning files may not be the right choice.

As others have stated...the files are complete trash. Maybe they work a bit better on plastic but on a graphite nut it was really difficult to remove any material at all. The smaller ones are so flimsy its a bit like flossing teeth. Then they are bent up and even more worthless.The feeler gauges are ok but yes covered in oil and, if they come with the sandpaper, grit from the paper. Good enough for 2 stars since they are cheap.My feeling is that the flat files with the rounded edge are really the only way to go here even though they are a lot more expensive. I'd suggest passing on these to save yourself some aggravation.

Files don'r cut into bone nut material, at least the skinny ones don't. Also, the abrasive area starts 1/4 inch from the end so it's easy to gouge instrument unless you snip the ends off with a wire cutter. Were not useful for me.Feeler gauges are fine but wet with oil.

The feeler gauges are accurate, as others have mentioned the files are not great but if you have one or two slots to adjust they’re just fine. Although you can get the files by themselves for $4 at Home Depot or Lowe’s as welding nozzle tip cleaners.

The feeler gauge is great. But the nut files SUCK! They are dull and dont file well at all. Just ordered myself a set of Stew Mac nut files instead. These are GARBAGE.

The round pieces lack "tooth".

Got this set, tried filing a bone nut - nothing. Skip these and get actual files. They'll cost more, but save you the headache.
