Works Great in Multiple Vehicles - I Love this Inverter!
Greetings, you groovy Inverter seekers! My first review of this Rally inverter was in 2012 about four years since my original purchase. I updated my original review in 2014 when I purchased the same unit for my adult niece. By then, my inverter was 3+-year old and used regularly in our car, jeep and and long RV trips. Well, it is now June 2015. My rough-and-tumble niece's family of mostly boys have used their inverter somewhat regularly for a year. My 2012 inverter is still working like the day it arrived.I'm about to purchase a second inverter for myself, because I'm finding it difficult to remember to grab my inverter from one vehicle so I can use it in another vehicle as needed (yes, I know -- first world problems). For a moment, I considered checking out other models of inverters, then thought, "WHYYYYYY?" I honestly have zero complaints with my 2011 constantly-used inverter (which, incidently, lives in the heat of my center console) in the California desert, and my neice has no complaints with her year-old inverter used by her entire family in four seasons of the midwest.I am a gadget fiend (though my budget doesn't allow for the newest and greatest anymore, boo hoo), and I really appreciate how I can use this Rally inverter to charge up any of my gadgets as needed. As I've mentioned in a previous review, I have used it to charge my laptop, iPad, cell phone, ecig, Verizon Home Phone Connect (anyone have a better option than the home phone connect? I'm getting terrible reception lately!) and I can charge any combos thereof. I've never blown fuses or had anything negative happen at all. This product is just a winner. And, no, I purchased this, I have no vested interest whatsoever.* * * * *Just to update everyone, it is now July 2014 -- three years since my purchase -- and I am using the same unit. It is still going strong and I still have no regrets! Oh, how I wish I could say the same for the many other gadgets I have purchased in the last two years! :)* * * *I have owned my unit for over a year and it's working great. I use it pretty regularly in an older Jeep Cherokee, a Chrysler 300C and a Pace Arrow motorhome. I haven't had any problems with blown fuses or fried equipment. I've powered my laptop, my Verizon Home Phone Connect AND cordless telephone at the same time. I've charged my cell and iPad at the same time. I'ved charged two cells at the same time. I've charged various combos of gadgets with no regrets whatsoever. The unit is designed to fit in a cup holder but not snugly as the fans need to breathe. I am the passenger and I generally have all my "stuff" on my lap with the inverter either on the seat next to me or on the floor, depending on the vehicle I'm in.Also, I do not find the fan too loud. It isn't bothersome and I'm pretty picky with monotonous noises like that. To me, it's a low hum sound. No rattling or pinging or anything that works it's way annoyingly into my brain. A normal speaking voice is louder than the hum of the inverter.I'm very pleased and am about to order this same unit for a family member.

Loved the thing!
I have been 'stuck' waiting for folks many a time. My old Dell laptop battery life is under 45 minutes. In the past, when that ran out, I had to hunt around for a power outlet to continue working. Now, I just plug into my car, and continue on. It's great. Like others have said, the fan noise is there when using AC power, but that's a minor drawback (to me). The unit doesn't quite fit correctly in the drink cup of my Honda Civic, but some packing material will fit that bill well, just as long as I don't cover the vent holes. Best buy I could have made for $28.Note*** After Hurricane Sandy hit and before I got my generator, I used this device with a battery on my dining room floor to get myself some CFL lights burning in the house. It worked. Not ideal due to all the extension cords, but I had lights until the car battery (a spare I have in the garage) ran out of juice.August 20, 2013About 6 or 8 months ago, the fan started making whining noises. It appeared to have worked itself out. Even during it's noisy phase, the unit worked admirably. The fan is only needed when the A/C inverter is being used, so it's not in use all that often.November 7, 2014Still using this unit. The fan whines at first most times, but after a minute or so, it spins freely and does cool the internal electronics sufficiently.July 28, 2015Unfortunately, this thing has more or less surrendered. I have to play with the power switch and smack it around a few times before either the red or green LED will illuminate. Even then, it will only fire off the rectifier circuit about one third of the time. Time to sent it to the landfill in the sky... The USB port still works fine, which is why I haven't chucked it yet. It's been a permanent fixture in my Honda for the entire time, plugged in always so I guess I can't complain since the car is used almost daily.

Purchased this for Road Trip from DE to FL
Excellent product, great quality and really works. Girlfriend and i planned a roadtrip from Delaware to Florida and we wanted to have something where we can power up some devices. We like to watch movies on our laptop while we drive down (sorry no DVD player in car. not that fancy lol) so once the battery drained on the laptop we decided to plug this bad boy in and connect our Laptop to it to charge, i was also using the car plug for my Radar detectar, which we then connected it to the power inverter. and also connected the iphone USB cable to it. the fan is a little noisy to keep the device cool but with the road noise and everything else you cant even tell its there unless you really pay attention to it. The power inverter never got hot or over heated. and we had it plugged in for about 17 hours in the car. the great thing about this device is that you can run the USB and car charger thing (whatever its called) with out having the fan running. in other words, it has an independent switch to power on and off the power inverter (house plug thing) sooo you can run the USB and the car charger port with out having the other thing on and the fan running.i was extremely impressed by the design of it and thought it was neat that it fit right into the cup holder and it was in the way of the shifter and for the price it is really well made and solid. very content with purchase...also did i mention that girlfriend decided to plug in her curling iron and do her hair in the car because she got bored? loli would highly recomment this to anyone.
