Wet Sanding Choice - except....
I use this for wet sanding and it is ideal. I cannot speak for automotive finish applications, but for what I use it for it works better than a paper backed disc. It tends to retain water in the sanding "matrix" , which allows for a longer sanding session before needing more water. The material is pretty tough too. I have used a box of these with no rips or tears. It holds up better than any comparable paper backed discs at this price point. The only drawback is it is somewhat difficult to see wear on the surface of the mesh, at least for me. Just have to be aware and look for it. I tried to save a little money and went back and bought a lower priced Mirka 600 grit paper. That was a mistake, and I am about to purchase my second box of these.Edit : 9/2019One thing I have realized about this type of sanding media is that it has a tendency to allow the hook and loop backing on the sander to penetrate through the sanding disc as it wears. This leaves deeper marks on the sanded surface that must be removed. I have therefore removed one star from my review.
