Sioux Chief 878-40PK Recessed Plug 4 in, Sold as 3 Pack

I had to have the pipe that goes from the house to the septic system replaced. They added an access pipe that came up to the ground surface for easy access in the future. They installed a cap that had an external square on it put a wrench on to tighten or remove it. I replaced it with this one which has recessed slots in it for installing and removing the cap. It reduced the height by .75 inch. And it will work just as well as the other one.

Does it’s job

Worked great and at a fair price.

Can be difficult to find in hardware stores. Color is white. Used one to replace black cleanout cover in driveway. Less conspicuous. Top has a recessed "X", not a single grove as in the illustration. The difference is unimportant. What is important is that this fits flush -- no trip hazzard.

I appreciated the good fit with no sticking or binding, I used a 21/2 inch floor chisel and an adjustable wrench to completely seat the cover, the job was much easier than I anticipated. Thanks!

I used this to replace a clean out plug damaged by a lawnmower. I’m hoping the receded slot type will avoid that fate. As others have said, the top has an X, not a slot, in the top. The orange tool that Amazon recommends will tighten it, but it’s not necessary. Anything that fits into the 3x1/2” slot will work.My only complaint, and it’s nitpicking, is the PITA to remove sticker. :)

Item works well

Purchased these to replace the clean out covers on my sewer system. The large square bolt on the standard cover was getting caught by my lawn mower deck wheels. Once installed the cap is flush with the fitting.
