Weather Station
Love this unit, great product! Easy to use and set up, and fun to watch online using their app and WeatherUnderground! I would recommend getting the extension pole to get the unit further in the air.

Yes! It works with the AcuRite 5-in1 sensor!
Boy did I sweat this choice. Not being really into the whole local forecasting thing, an Acurite unit with a 5-in-1 sensor was all I needed to be happy. Unfortunately the 5-in1 is the only sensor in the planet (apparently) that uses a 3/4โ mount. If youโve landed on this page you know the pain of trying to find a pre-made mount for these consumer units. I looked everywhere on the โnet and found nothing. Kind of shocking when you figure how many of these units are sold each year. Even weirder that AcuRite doesnโt make one as an accessory (theyโd have had my money). Anyway! When this arrived I was impressed at how sturdy and well built it was. Everything - including lags - was in the package. Once mounted it was incredibly secure. A great product and well thought out at each turn. Now, how to get that 1โ weathermount pipe to fit inside the pesky 3/4โ AcuRuite 5-in-1 sensor? Turns out the fix was insanely easy. A quick trip to Loweโs, a little duct tape (duh - what good project doesnโt involve duct tape), 5 minutes of workbench time and all was well! Hereโs what you do: 1) Get a 4โ piece of 3/4โ schedule 40 or 80 pvc pipe (I just grabbed a 4โ schedule 80 joiner fitting for $0.70) 2) Place 2โ of the pvc into the 5-in-1 sensor and secure using the same AcuRite instructions youโd use for the AcuRite mount 3) (Got that duct tape handy?) Wrap the duct tape about three times around the exposed end of the pvc pipe to create a sleeve. 4) Inset the duct tape wrapped end of the pvc pipe with the 5-in-1 sensor now attached into the mount pipe. 5) Position the sensor so that it is facing due south when the mount is attached to the support surface. 6) Drill a small guide hole in the mount pipe through to the pvc and secure the sensor with a sheet metal screw to the weathermount. (And oh, just be honest, youโll just use a wood screw you had left over from something else) Boom! All done, looks like the whole thing was made in the same factory. You wonโt even see the pvc pipe between the sensor and the mount. Let that weather rock and roll!

Works great, looks very professional.
They obviously listen to the feedback here. The 2015 review noting the need for lock washers is probably why it now comes with nice, grippy, lock nuts. It can be a little tricky putting it up by yourself. I loosely mounted my weather station to the pole at ground level, then took it off, got everything up on the roof and mounted the pole. Make sure to hold it against your mounting spot until you're sure you have it arranged right. I drilled small pilot holes for each screw before installing them and drove them in with a socket wrench. It's the second screw that's the tricky one. Once you have a pair set diagonally it's easy to finish. Putting my weather station back on was easy enough for me because the top of the pole is only around neck high. My Davis Vantage Pro has a built-in bubble level so I had little trouble getting it nice an level before I tightened everything down.

My geeky dream come true
This thing is so cool. I stressed a little bit about where to put it since I didn't want to put it up on my roof, and I also wanted to keep it close enough to the house where the Wifi could reach but not so close that the wind speed and temperatures were affected by the proximity to the house. I found a good compromise spot on the corner of my deck that seems to be working really well. I love this thing - I check it every day and send my family weather updates. One of the coolest features is the SOCIAL MEDIA from Ambient where you can see other people's weather stations, post and comment on updates, and essentially validate your readings with your neighbors. Best birthday gift I've gotten in a while.

Great pole for mounting a weather station
Recently purchased a weather station and needed a mounting pole. This was more expensive than I liked but it was well constructed and the right size. Good instructions and an easy install. Overall a solid product.

This was purchased to mount my Ambient weather station sensor and rain gauge, the female end of mounting pole does not fit into the sensor. I contacted the manufacturer who asked for photos to show my problem, they sounded eager to remedy the problem and said they would resolve my problem. That was the last I heard from them and all my emails were ignored. I'm using a piece of broom handle and duct tape which looks extremely poor. I'm extremely disappointed.
