Coach Your Brains Out: Lessons On The Art And Science Of Coaching Volleyball

The One Book to Bind Them (in the light)
For the past several years I have been researching and taking notes on the topics in this book in hopes of improving my coaching. The authors have done a tremendous job of summarizing and, for me, clarifying the application of Dweck, Wulf, McGown, Noah, Kessel and others. I will return often to it’s pages for refreshers of the basics of coaching and teaching.Just so you know, I’ve been coaching multiple sports 7-12 since 1970.

Must Read!!!!
Absolutely love this book! So much so that I bought 2 more for my assistants. It’s not only a great coaching book, but as a life long learner, a great book on how to learn and be better. Tremendous insight on motor learning and having a growth mindset. Also, it was great to read about Billy and John being vulnerable about there struggles early on as athletes and as coaches. Every coach in every sport can relate. Great book!

A must read at any level
This book has helped me look at so many things with a little different mindset, and feel the outcomes are all because of John, Billy, and friends. No matter the length that you have been coaching, this is a great book for you! The book is an easy read, and keeps your attention the entire time. They even left an area for you to add your own notes at the end of every chapter. Now stop reading this review, and just purchase your copy. You will not regret it!

Volleyball Coaches Go-To Resource
The popular and informative podcast has been mined by it's hosts for the jewels of knowledge and coaching ideas in this new, easy to read and to-the-point book. Every Club Director should be buying this for their coaching staffs and anyone in any sport looking to catch up on the newest information on culture, motor learning theory and practice design should invest in this keeper. Great job from Allen and Mayer- it's the first book a new coach should put on their shelves!

Every coach should read this!
The biggest reason I like this book so much is because it pushes you outside the "norm" and pushes you to reconsider the way you've been operating as a coach. For coaches very experienced to not experienced at all I think there are a lot of great take aways, in many different topics they discuss. A great read for those who are willing to explore new ideas and rethink what type of experience you can create for your athletes.

One of the few must-reads
Such a good read. Only downside is that you want to listen to every single podcast-episode afterwards. Awesome! Looking forward to the next one.
