OpenCart 1.4: Beginner's Guide

I can't believe I bought this without checking the version. It is not very good for version 1.5.x.x as this is a considerable revision of the cart. Waste of money. As a book - it's probably 4 stars, as a set of directions it is just a set of frustrations unless you want to work from version 1.4.

Guide contains many tips to get started but really is a beginner's guide; doesn't get very deep into the cart's workings.

This book helped me a lot trying to figure out Opencart. I thought I would be able to figure out how to set up my store on my own and that was a complete failure. So I decided to buy this book to learn how to use certain features. I am currently using the 1.5 version of Opencart but honestly it didn't make much of a difference when navigating through this book. It was easy to understand and they made plenty of screen shots of what they were doing so you can follow along with what they are trying to show you how to do. You should not hesitate to buy this book. It will save you a lot of aggravation and time.

After trying several open source shopping cart solutions and reading lots of reviews, I have finally decided to build my online store business with OpenCart. As a newbie to this area and not being a computer geek, I needed to understand the basics at first. Consequently, I could continue with more advanced topics like payment, shipping options and taxes on OpenCart. This book helped me a lot to start operating the store. I like the books with a developing story and clear illustrations. OpenCart Beginner's Guide shows how to start a fictitious shoe store and implement the fundemental options step by step. Overall, I would suggest this book for beginners who want a good, easy-to-understand guide about OpenCart.
