I would buy another in a heartbeat
I ended up purchasing an Amazon refurbished version of this for my shorter 5.56mm. That was not my best move. I apparently neglected to look at the dimensions of the HL-X and just went ahead and purchased it. The refurbished price was $60-$70 less than a brand new one and I thought that was a good deal. When the HL-X arrived, the box wasn't in pristine condition, but I figured that was par for the course with a refurb. So it didn't bother me one bit. I decided that seeing as I had it in my hand, I would see how it fit on my shorter 5.56mm. So, if you remember me saying, I neglected to read the dimensions? Yeah, don't do what I did. It fits my shorter 5.56mm, but takes up the ENTIRE handguard. So, it looks like it'll have to go on my larger 5.56mm. Which, I intended to purchase a light for anyways. Just as a word of advice, read the dimensions to see if it will fit your weapon. Anyways, after realizing I should read the entire listing before assuming size,, I grabbed the battery and immediately attempted to charge it. The manual requests you charge it for 5 hours the first time. I did so, and the flashlight didn't work. I tried this multiple times but to no avail. I decided before sending it back, I would try new batteries. So I purchased a 2-pack of the Streamlight 18650 batteries and lo and behold, LET THERE BE LIGHT! The light is fantastically bright! If you choose to use this for home defense, unless you live in a celebrity mansion, this will light up nearly every corner of your house. My house has 3 rooms all on one line of sight and all 3 rooms were lit up as though all the lights were on. From my experience, the throw from the light should reach the distances on the box in clear weather. With how bright this is, if there's any fog or haze in the air, the throw will be cut down significantly due to reflection. This is the first weapon light I've purchase and I'm damn glad I got this one. Even for the full price, it absolutely is worth it. The additional pressure switch and mount really put it over the top. If this light ever dies, I will buy another in a heartbeat.

Looking for a powerful light with a laser? Get this
Until a better company makes this item, this is the best you can get in a super powerful light WITH a very bright laser. Though I do wish they offered a green laser. Green much better. But the red laser is still bright enough to see in some daylight conditions out to 30 yards or so. The light is really powerful. Like everyone else said, it would be a lot better if you could turn the laser on without the light and vice versa. They both come on when using the remote switch pad. That is not ideal, but it's ok, I can accept it how it is. Some have said you can back the battery cap off a bit loose and achieve independent control of the light and laser. This is totally false. While it kinda works sometimes, you can tell that is definitely not how it's designed to work and it's intermittent at best. Bump the rifle and either they both come on or everything goes dead. Those who suggested that are completely wrong. To those who said this light is too big, or too heavy, you must be weak examples of men. Maybe put down the mountain dew and hot pocket, eat some real food and do some real work to toughen your sissy selves up. First of all, it is not too big at all and second, I hardly notice a change in weight. I've got it mounted on a 16" barrel carbine. If you are looking for a powerful light and laser combo, get this item. It works. I wanted a good laser for night time, as a backup in case my red dot sight craps out. I also have iron sights, but I wanted a better backup - night time targeting option, that allows me to hip shoot alien predators like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Great product!!!
I bought one a few years ago. No idea how many I have now… at least 8. It’s my go to for a long gun weapon light. The laser is crisp and it has great light coverage. I run it with rechargeable batteries and absolutely love it.

Best light/laser & mount combo for your money, but...
...this is one BEEFY boy. Much larger then expected. I get it, lasers cost extra real estate, chunkier batteries, etc. Not faulting Streamlight for this. I am however faulting them for one thing, which has already been mentioned a bunch of times below... no possible way to turn on just the laser while using the pressure pad. This should have been a simple thing to do but it honesty just feels like they just forgot about this when it came to using the pad. The size and lack of laser-only pad selection dings this for a full 5 stars. The sad part is I KNOW Streamlight can do better. Their TLR series are some of the best weapon lights, both on rifles and pistols, I've ever used, hands down. I couldn't praise the TLR high enough, and this too is a great quality product (if you don't mind the size and pad issue) and it will serve you well. If you have the extra cash to spend, buy a TLR light/laser combo and a LaRue mount. If you don't, this will work very well but just be aware of it's down sides. Update: Ok, I don't know if this is a fluke, designed (don't think so) or just my light, but I found a way to turn on just the laser WITH the pressure pad. After screwing the pressure pad cap on fully, rotate it BACK a hair, just until it starts to loosen and then stop. Suddenly just the laser turns on. Again, I don't know if this might eventually damage the light/battery or if it's fine or even if this is just mine but there you go.

This light is Solid and worth every penny.
This light is great. I have the older model HLX pro and this one is just bigger in size but not noticeably heavier. I got this one specifically for my slug gun and it has held up just fine to heavy recoil use. Streamlight in my opinion is just as good as the more expensive Surefire brand. I’ve had several of both and the only differences between the two brands is the logo and the $$$. The only thing I don’t care for about this particular light is that to my surprise it came with a built in laser that I don’t remember seeing anywhere in the description. I don’t care for lasers much but I did sight the laser in at 20 yards for buckshotting at close range and the laser has held its zero just fine🤷🏻♂️ This light is 100% worth the money. You get what you pay for.

Good light for the money
Solid weapon light. The included mounting hardware for the button (picatinny rail button mount and zip ties) is a nice touch. I mounted it on my picatinny rail and its pretty comfortable to use.

Awesome Weapon Light
This is an amazing light. I didn't read the description well enough when I bought it. It has a built in laser that's accurate. I just wish it was green because of the brightness of the flashlight.

You can not active the Laser or Light alone w/ pad
The pressure pad sucks. Whoever marketed this product should’ve let us know that when using the pressure pad, you must use both light sources simultaneously. That’s TERRIBLE. Had I known this, I would’ve went with a better product, now I just feel scammed. Save your money and get a different light combo that you can utilize better
