Great model
The quality of this model is high. The material is a harder wood and holds up well and is laser cut with a high degree of precision. The main thing is that all the pieces fit together well with the instructions being clear if you go step by step and reference the parts diagram. Only pop out the pieces needed for each step else you will misplace pieces. The small piece of sand paper you get with the model is not enough and you would do well to get a larger piece of fine grit sand paper. I had to sand a lot of the tabs that insert into the slots to make it easier to fit the pieces together. I suggest you to this versus forcing the pieces together. I broke some of the pieces early in the build doing it this way. Overall the build was challenging and I would not recommend it for an 8 year old. I bought it for my 7 year old but wound up finishing it all myself. Also be careful popping out the pieces as some of the pieces may not be cut through as much as others and can break. I suggest using one of the oval wood pieces that aren’t used to help you pop pieces out with damaging them. In summary, it’s a well designed model and I would probably buy others from this company for myself.

looks nice
I had fun putting it together, and the finished product looks nice.Bought it to play with my 9-yr old daughter. The instruction is straightforward for a kid of her age to follow. However, the pieces fit together very tight, requiring quite a bit of force at times---It's not a problem for an adult but is a bit challenging for my daughter. I would not call this a shortcoming because the outcome is a very sturdy model for exhibition. However, the "8+ years" in the product description is a little pushing it.

Great parent/child project!
371 opportunities to build something with your child. Pieces are solid and easy to assemble. A few are difficult to punch out but can easily be handled by an adult. My son and I are on day 4 of the build and he's loved every minute. Excellent value for the price. Highly recommend you put wax paper over the lights so you can turn it into a night light in their room.

Very nice wooden ship, easy to put together
Husband had together in a few days. Good size, being appox. 35 inches long and displays well. It came prepainted.

It was a hit
Got this for my nephew who loves ships. Normally he asks for LEGO sets so took a chance this would spark his interest just as much. It was surprisingly well made. Took one child and one adult about six fun filled hours to assemble not including the rigging strings.

Looks great when completed BUT, instructions are really poor.
Quality wood model, excellent fit and finish and so far the only one I have assembled with painted pieces. This was a real challenge which I normally don't mind but none of the pieces on the wood sheets are numbered but the assembly instructions use part numbers. This requires that you go back to the beginning of the instructions, locate the number on one of the sheet diagrams and then go back to that sheet and locate the part.If that isn't bad enough, the letter and numbers are not consistent on the individual sheets, the are scattered throughout and quite small, so sometimes I need a magnifying glass.I am happy with the outcome but doubt if I would buy another model from this brand.
