I had hesitated on this purchase due to the price. I am not one to purchase something, inspect it and find I don't like it, and then return it. But I wanted something heavy duty. I have a J-Tec L frame on a Sony Nex camera and I wanted to use this screw to connect the camera via L plate to my own (non Sun Sniper) strap. I never let the camera hang from the strap. It is either in my hand or in the case, so this was only as a fail-safe back-up. As soon as I received it I was impressed. It is considerably larger than other such swivel screws and is obviously very well designed and built. Installation went perfectly and it is on the L plate/camera for the duration. Should I have the same need on another camera, rather than using this screw, I will purchase another. I compare this screw with the Hoodman loupe. It appears to be expensive for what you get, but once you bite the bullet and get it you are glad you did. The vendor (Adorama) shipped extremely quickly. Overall I could not be more satisfied with the product or the transaction. We live in a very isolated mountain region, so brick and mortar stores are not close. The nearest dedicated camera store (an excellent one) is 75 miles away, so the speed and convenience of on-line shopping is very useful.

Used this in Iraq keeping a 1Ds II and 1D III body at my side in the turret at all times. Worked like a charm. If you stumbled upon this thing wanting a tripod mount sling swivel device, then just get this. I used it with a carabiner-type attachment and an old weapon sling, and because of the 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch wide flat bar, the carabiner would slide back and forth between the angle corner parts of the swivel and just kinda get bunched up, but that was my laziness in not finding a correct width strap or attachment design. Like i said, if you are interested in buying this, just do. There really isn't a better product i've seen out there that does this particular job. High quality parts. I was a little nervous about hanging a 1D body + 70-200/2.8 IS lens off of it, bouncing around in a 30 ton vehicle in a war zone, but it held up nicely. Would buy again.

Like the way it is designed with a free rotating part separate from the 1/4-20 screw mount to the camera reducing the likelihood of the screw working loose in use. Using it with a competitive sling strap.

I bought the Sniper Strap months ago and it came with the D-shape ring which had problem to secure with the camera. The current version of Sniper Strap products are upgraded with this Bear Camera Screw afterward. As the user of old version, I am very happy to see the Bear Camera Screw is sold separately so I can upgrade the set myself. Although it requires to cut the sew of the strap to implement it, but it makes my strap as a new life.

These just make sense when securing expensive gear. Built like a tank. Smooth as silk. Expensive, but worth every penny.

I was reluctant to purchase this as it costs a great deal for "just a screw." However, I am glad that I did. This product delivers on two important points: 1) Twists of the camera do not have the potential to loosen the camera from the sling. 2) The camera rests more comfortably and reliably against hip or back. I greatly recommend this.

The screw is easy to install and holds the camera securely. Make sure to screw it tightly to the camera body and you're all set.

Went with swivel camera screw due to heavier camera and lens combo. Seems to work perfect! Highly recommend this product.

Not been able to go out with it on my Nikon just yet due to illness and also weather not been great,on design alone and the way it feels and looks on the camera I'd giveav it 5to Stars.

Ja, der "alte Karabiner" hätte meine Sony A7 böse am rückseitigen Display vermackt. Das Austausch-Teil macht einen hochwertigen Eindruck und ist sicherlich sein Geld wert. Trotzdem habe ich etwas Bedenken, das er sich irgendwann mal aus dem Gewinde lösen könnte, zumal das Teil nur durch "Fingerkraft" an der Rändelung festgedreht wird. Aber ich bin optimistisch. 5 Sterne ! PS habe den Gurt - wenn auch mit "Fummelei " - ohne Auftrennung durch den Bügel bekommen !

It cost more than the sling I bought to use with it but it's strong and reliable with a big camera/lens combo attached. Once it's attached with the supplied rubber washer there's no un-screwing that sometimes happens with d-rings and the like although I do have a safety strap fixed in case.

Diese Schraube empfand ich als ziemlich teuer, allerdings konnte sie mich nun überzeugen und ist somit ihr Geld Wert. Gesucht war eine Möglichkeit meine Unterwasserkamera (bzw. das Gehäuse mit Blitzschiene) an meinem Tauchjacket zu befestigen. Zusammen mit einer Bandschlinge von Elliot ST hat diese Schraube 15 Tauchgänge lang meine Kamera gesichert und hat sich dabei nie gelockert. Man stelle sich das Reichen der Kamera vom und ins Boot an besagter Schlinge vor. Dabei dreht sich die Kamera auch gern, deshalb fiel meine Wahl auch gerade auf diese Schraube.

Ich habe mir die Sun-Sniper Kugellager Kamera Schraube als "Upgrade" für meinen alten Sun-Sniper Gurt Sniper-Strap Steel Kameragurt (Stahlseil-verstärkt) schwarz (die Alte Version mit dem Karabiner)bestellt. Und ich muss sagen, dass es die Funktionalität des Gurte um einiges verbessert hat. Die Kamera hängt dichter am Gurt und pendelt weniger als mit dem Standardkarabiner. Negativ ist einzig der hohe Preis, nichtsdestotrotz möchte ich das Teil nicht mehr missen.
