Smarten Prime+ MPPT Solar PCU/Charge Controller 12/24V : 30A

I will write a detailed review after a month. On primary observation, the system is easy to install and operating well. However, the energy meter accuracy is disappointing.The least count is 1kWh and the indicated value was not matching with the actual one which I estimated. After a week observation, I would like to say, the performance is not that good. Earlier, I was using a PWM based charge controller which was giving almost same performance of this systems. ie MPPT algorithm in this system is not at all performing well. Amenmend On 23/07/2020: As mentioned earlier, Energy reading is also incorrect. Now I am adding some more points on my review based on further observation and intervention of the Manufacturer M/s Smarten. Initially there was a bug on charging Progaming, it was replaced based on my request, the company is very cordial and helpful. Now system is working fine. So I highly recommand the product as it is very economical and performance is also good.

This products works as it mentioned in spec sheet. Very good product, easy to install and configure. worth of spending money & time. Below are my suggestions to OEM to make it as an excellent product. 1.a simple LED indications can show (Red and Green) that mains connected and disconnected, so that you dont have to wait to read the display. 2.It would be nice to include in the setting - battery capacity, so that your program /algorithm can give notification,battery is in good condition or getting weak by calculating charging time. 3.this controller has 4 modes of charging, but no way to know ,which mode of charging happening / ongoing,love to have LED indications or in the display that shows presently battery is charging bulk/absorption/floating or equalization 4. in case of cloudy / expect to have rain and power outages, would like to preserve the battery charge for later use, in such case a simple mains bypass switch,may switch off my inverter, would be a very helpful option. 5.last but not least, any option to share the actual or stored data of solar harvest/trending data via Bluetooth or WiFi so that we can read and store data to improve our green energy harvest and utilization. on the last note, when this smarten controller received, i made video call to install with help of electrician remotely, in other words, its so simple to do installations ,like plug and play- kudos to smarten OEMS. I have been using for past 1 month, attached small videos for users/ buyers. the system is working satisfactorily , iam satisfied ,this was the right purchase..

I faced few problems with the PCU as it had battery measuring error of +.2 V. Due to which DoD cut off was happening faster than it should. I contacted the Seller Green Energy Solutions who was very helpful. He suggested to replace the item and new one which arrived was perfect. Product is good but I request the manufacturers to do quality testing before despatching. Few things which isn't mentioned clearly in the manual and I like to mention what I found. DoD won't take effect unless the battery gets full and also solar power should be available at that time. Incase battery Voltage is above DoD but there is no solar power, then mains won't be disconnected. We cannot manually disable mains other than turning off the switch provided in the PCU. Smarten will connect to mains during evenings when solar power reduces. It doesn't matter whether battery is above DoD or not. To put it simply, if there is solar power then we can run from battery+solar. If there is no solar power then it will connect with the mains and we can't use stored energy from the battery.

1. Very disappointed in supplied user manual. Many errors. Only the print quality and paper is good that's all. I would prefer a mono plain paper print with more detail and accuracy any day. I would consider myself at least average in terms of technical understanding on electrical goods, still it is frustrating to refer the user manual supplied. I wonder how much more unuseful it will be for the less technically minded. 2. "Connect the battery first, damage warning" how can something this important be not included in the user manual PRECAUTIONS section. Ignorant. 3. Point 3 states "in order from 1-6 (see diagram below". There are no diagrams with numerical labels. If we were to use the ones with Alphabetical labels, I will contradict the first picture that said "Connect the battery first". And many more that I don't want to waste my time on pointing out. I am disappointed to say the least. I think SUOER products are far better. Period.

I was looking for the product like this for 4 years. Excellent it works with any type of Solar panel 12/24v and any inverter 12/24v. this product save money on buying battery if we have 24v panel. I have 24v 220W two BHEL panel which need 24v solar inverter. now I connected my 24V solar panel to 12v inverter. it works perfectly. From 8:30 am to 4 PM my house runs on SOLAR . 5 fan, 2 computer, 3 light. I could see 1.5 to 2 unit power from Solar MPPT controllers. Daily I get some ROI from this product

Good product with a lot of problems....1 Very noisy fan ( Switch on always during solar generation- No auto cutt off) 2. The VOC is lower for a 12 Volt MPPT system ( I used 72 cell Vikram solar mono crystalline panel- it automatically switches off saying High PV). Max VOC of solar panel is 47 Volts. So I have to connect my old panel of sukam poly crystalline of 100 watts in parallel(300watts) to limit the maximum VOC. Working good & converting extra volt in amps. Still the fan is creating very high noise like generator. So finally returned the product. The build quality is good and LCD display is amazing also. Main reason for returning the item is fan noise & the VOC of system is lower ( unable to connect 24volt 72 cell 365watts Vikram solar panels, Very bad for a MPPT system). The customer support of smarten is very bad.( The email address shown on the smarten website is wrong, the product have another email address too & final called toll free number still also no use... They have no idea about any technical support). For a 24 V Inverter system it is ok.

It is nice MPPT. Not sure whether it is working well or not as my battery never gets full. I have more than enough Panels to handle the required load and my battery is new. With same number of panels my older battery was getting fully charged in 6 hours of proper sun with my old pwm charger. I don't know whether its mppt issue or one of the Panels became problematic (I am not getting enough sun as well due to cloudy weather to determine). In any case it is providing power to run my room in daytime and charges battery enough so that it lasts for over 4 hours after the sun is set. Now the real problem: fan, it is so noisy that I can hear it inside my room while the mppt is installed outside my house and there is no provision to stop it, if there is sun the fan will run. Even at very low temperature the fan runs with the full speed. I have other bigger mppt as well on roof that is noisy too but it runs only when it is hot and not always. I would love to replace it with low noise fan. However getting mppt at such price point is an advantage and this mppt is sturdy very well built and real mppt (converts extra voltage to ampere). That is why I give it 4 stars (1 star is deducted because of fan noise.) Battery charging can be checked when the weather changes at my location for now I am happy with the product (and disappointed with the fan). P.S: I use fan noise as a indication that the solar power is available :D:D:D. Update: Got clear sky and the mppt charged my battery to full. So it is working well.

1. nice quality product with great perfection. 2. good space given for cable connection, so that we can connect high gauge cables. 3. provided extra fuse and a simple user manual but need to be more precise for installation, work require on Manual Part to make it easy for installation 4. mppt is perfectly working by giving more output 5.
