Great all purpose rod, not just for trolling.
Solid rod so far. I've taken it tuna fishing a few times, and put a heavy duty spinner reel on it (Quantum Cabo, 50lb drag). I definitely got a few looks / comments as if I had no clue what I was doing, putting a spinner reel on a trolling rod but for the type of fishing I'm doing (deep sea boats in SoCal with limited room to maneuver around other people), this works well for me.The rod is about 6 feet, so it's much shorter than some of the typical 8 foot rods I see on the boats, but since I'm either (a) just tossing a live bait over the rail so it can swim away, or (b) bottom fishing right over the edge of the rail, letting a 12oz sinker take it straight down, I have no need for a longer rod that can cast far. In fact, it's just more cumbersome in those tight quarters with a longer rod, so a short trolling rod is perfect. You lose some of the flex you get with a longer rod, but if you've got mono on top of braid, you'll have plenty of stretch in your line. By the time you get the fish reeled in close enough to get gaffed, having extra flex in your rod makes no difference in the odds that your fish is going to break away. It's more likely it will bend the hook, or rip the line, or any number of other things. The spinner reel is my preference because I never worry about a birds nest, and I can get my bait in the water fast. If you've ever been on a school of tuna, you know you've got 5-10 minutes tops to reel in what you can. So for my money, as long as you have a spinner that has strong enough drag to fight a bonito / skipjack / yellowtail / yellofin in the 10lb - 40 lb range, you're better off than with a baitcaster imo. I suppose if you find yourself with a 250 lb bluefin, you'd be in trouble with my setup. But you'd be in the same amount of trouble even if you had a baitcaster because you're probably using 40lb mono, or a hook that won't stand up to that big fish, or whatever else. The only thing worth noting is that if you use mono, the twist in the line can cause it to move outside of the wheel tracks and get caught up a bit. Braid runs straight, so it stays on the tracks no problem. I'm pretty much now using all braid, with flourocarbon leader, to avoid having mono snags in the tracks.

I cannot say enough about how great Okiaya is
I cannot say enough about how great Okiaya is. First, I have been using their rods for roughly a year in a half now. They have held up extremely well and perform just as good if not better than some of the bigger names out there. Second, I just ordered a new rod from Okiaya that was damaged in the shipping process. I reached out to Sophia and had the problem solved within minutes. Absolutely amazing customer service. So nice to be able to buy high quality fishing tackle at such a great price, while knowing that if you do have any issues this company has excellent customer service to back up their products!

Not a PENN or Shimano, but pretty good rod for the money.
The rod is a pretty good rod for the money. Need to remember to clean and lube the roller guide after every trip ( which you should on any rod). One characteristic of these rods are they are stiff, even the light 20-40 or 30-50lbs rods. I prefer a little more give in a rod of this class. In any event, I ordered 4 more so I guess I am not too unhappy with the purchase.

nice roller guides
just received 2 new 30 to 50 slayer rods. they are well crafted, nice roller guides, beautiful wrap job, the reel seat is anodized aluminum and plastic, could be a better quality reel seat but for $56 dollars it is alot of bang for the bucks you are spending. also came with a rod cover and for yellow fin in the 125 pound range it more than holds it,s own. I use a shimano tld 20 with 65 pound braided line with mono 60 pound leader and it does the job just fine, don,t shy away from the price, it is a quality rod. I like it so much I ordered the 50 to 80 rod and also the 50 to 80 carbon fiber Venom Pro Series. I will review those rods when I get them.
