These are for ditching adapters but the DP connectors are a bit fat
I bought 2 of these cables to connect up 2 of my 3 monitors for a tripple monitor gaming setup, however, when I went to plug them into my computer, the display port ends were too fat to fit them next to each other. The graphics card they were being plugged into is an Asus Strix GTX1080, so a fairly common card, meaning that most people can't use more than one of these due to how large the connector head is. Also my monitors are the Asus VG245H model which is capable of 75hz refresh rate. These cables are not capable of that refresh rate while normal HDMI cables are for some reason. These are a great clean way to connect Display port to HDMI without bulky adapters, but that is all they are. They aren't really performance minded or multi- monitor setup minded due to the size of their display port connector side head.Update: I learned that my settings were incorrect and these cables are, in fact, able to handle 1080p at 75hz. They likely are identical to regular hdmi cables. My mistake.

Display Port to HDMI Only - Not The Other Way Around!
I'm giving this 4 stars because the price is good, I received it Prime in 2 days, and the seller was willing to accept my return request with no questions. I actually don't know how well the cable works because I needed to go the other direction - HDMI out to a monitor with Display Port input. This cable does NOT work for that purpose. When I looked at the instruction sheet it clearly showed that the cable was only intended to work sending video from a Display Port source to an HDMI input on a monitor. It probably works fine that way, and I decided to cancel my return request because I misunderstood the intent of the product. However, I think the description should make it more clear that the cable only works in one direction. Apparently to go from HDMI out to Display Port in you need an active adaptor that requires USB power to run. They are substantially more money than a cable, so I decided to get an $8 two way HDMI switch instead (my monitor has 1 HDMI input and 1 Display Port input but I have two HDMI sources to plug into it). The switch works great and is better than using separate monitor inputs anyway because I just push 1 button to change sources instead of having to push like 3 buttons on the back of the monitor to change the source.

Simply because the price is usually better and its just more convenient
These days there are very few things that I actually go to the store and buy. I mostly order things online. Simply because the price is usually better and its just more convenient. Cables are one of those things I usually go to the store and purchase so that I can physically see the cable that I am ordering. There are just so many manufacturers that produce different types of cables of different qualities and repackage and relabel them for specific retailers. You just never really know the level of quality you are getting from cables you order online. Its on of these hit and miss things. Some cables though. Especially conversion cables of a specific length. You just have to order online, because you will be hard pressed to find them in the stores. My point is that these cable matters cables are quality made for their price point. This is my second time purchasing them and you plug them in and forget about them they work so well. The wire terminals seem to be solid and the connection terminals themselves seem to be well made. I do like that these specific cables are fairly thin and cable matters ever has thinner cables in certain connections, called the Ultra Slim cables. So its nice to know where the brand of cables that I can purchase online with out having to worry about if they are good cables or not. Trying to drudge through the thousands and thousands of different cable brands online and look at reviews is just a head ache. I will still be purchasing my cables in the store for the most part, because cables are one of those things that I usually dont know I need right up until I need it, but when the need arrises for me to order my cables online, Cable Matters will definitely be my go to.

Works great with my ThinkPad T420s but read my final thought...
I always bring my laptop with me whenever we go on a family vacation for two reasons.First reason is so that my kids can watch Netflix or a DVD movie off my laptop during the night at the hotel, and the second reason is so that I can do some work on it if I ever have a need for it.I have few laptops at home, including Lenovo ThinkPads, HP ProBook, Gateway, and Asus models. All my laptops EXCEPT Lenovo ThinkPads have HDMI port, which allows me to easily connect to a TV at a hotel to redirect the video and audio from my laptop to the TV.Lenovo ThinkPads, on the other hand, have what's called "DisplayPort", which looks similar to the HDMI port but it won't fit HDMI cable connector.I always have a spare HDMI cable in my luggage so that I don't forget to pack it whenever I go on a vacation but it was useless whenever I brought Lenovo ThinkPad.So I bought this DisplayPort to HDMI cable from Cable Matters to keep it inside my luggage along with my HDMI cable. This cable is very thick and looks durable. I had it for 4 years now and it still works great. My only minor complain, which is not a deal breaker, is that it's a big difficult and awkward to press the release latch when unplugging it from the DisplayPort. However, it appears that they have corrected this by replacing the release latch with a button style latch. Finally, I wish I had purchased a DisplayPort to HDMI male to female adapter instead so that it will take less space in my luggage and especially since I always have HDMI cable in my luggage, but overall this cable does what it's intended to and works wonderfully with my Lenovo ThinkPad T420s model.

Returned - Cable is not Reversable - HDMI output to DisplayPort input
I had to return this item because I need a cable that goes from an HDMI output (my laptop) to a DisplayPort input (my monitor.) This cable only works in the other direction (From DisplayPort output to HDMI input.) I didn't carefully read the entire Amazon description, so that is my fault. For anyone who reads this, be aware this cable will NOT work from an HDMI output (such as a laptop, computer, graphics card or other source,) to a DisplayPort input (such as a monitor or TV.)

Display port to HDMI cable
Excellent product for anyone who wants to connect a computer graphics card to a HD TV or monitor with HD quality, I had tried a HDMI cable but found got intermittent 1 second black screens & was later told off a t ech guy that the HD on PC graphics cards is often off sync with that of HD TV's & monitors which will cause this, so why they even put HD ports on the cards is beyond me, but if you have a display port on your card them problem solved with this cable, gives picture quality equal to that from the HDMI port & makes it stable so don't get black screens or any other problems & at the price its fantastic value

Works fine
I wanted to watch on our fairly new TV with an HDMI input things that I downloaded using BBC IPlayer.from my fairly new laptop with a DP port. I bought this with some trepidation. It was quite expensive. However I have now used it five times and it just worked without any problem. The only configuration I needed to do was at the TV use the menu to select the HDMI port as the input. The laptop needed no configuration at all. I leave the HDMI end plugged in to the TV permanently and just put the DP port end into the laptop when required. At other times I protect the connector with the plastic cap it came with. I notice that the DP port end is very secure - you have to press a button on the connector to release it.

Works plug n play audio and video.
I have 2 TV's connected to PC. The 1st being HDMI to HDMI - the second only has HDMI ports, no VGA + AUX and my graphics card, as they all do only has 1 HDMI port, but also 1 Displayport. Wasn't sure how well this would work having read some nay-sayers stating they have problems with DP, or that it never transmitted audio. Don't know what whacked out planet they came from, as for me plugging this to my 2nd TV worked as plug and play, both audio and video worked straight away. Under sound manager I can choose what TV to transmit sound through, whether its DisplayPort one or HDMI one. Works as expected, excellent product, never again will I have to mess about with VGA resolutions and their lack of audio, forcing me to use AUX cables which always leave a humming feedback

Top quality
Good quality stuff ! I own an HP probook 5310m and I bought the cable to connect my laptop to an external monitor. The cable is of very good quality and for me it was a case of 'plug and play' as soon as it arrived. I've read that you experience problems with cheaper cables when you try to insert or remove the cable from the laptop port but not with this one.

if you must use display port.....
Not entirely sure why anyone thought it was a good idea for my work HP laptop to come with a display port and no hdmi socket, but bingo this cable solves the issue. Identify it as a display port by the funny :D symbol next to the socket. Plug and play, connector connected solidly, plugs into hdmi at the other end on both an HDMI monitor and a TV. Unlike some of the other reviews never had a problem with the sound switching from the laptop to the monitor/tv.
