Hepburn Voice by VQ – with ALEXA Voice Control & Portable Bluetooth Speaker – Grey & Copper

I literally spent months searching for a Bluetooth speaker that looks like a radio with Alexa built in, or indeed an actual radio with the aforementioned artificial intelligence built in. All I could find were DAB radios and the odd Bluetooth speaker that requires you to use an app while accessing Alexa. Meaning, the appliance did not actually have Alexa built in, it just gave you audible access to Alexa via your phone or a linked Alexa device.I was about to give up when I found this beautiful Hepburn Voice model. Not only does it have Alexa genuinely built inside, the craftsmanship of this product is surprisingly good! It has a good solid weight to it, so does not feel cheap, and the materials used to make it, gives it a very superior look and luxurious feel. And the best thing is, after you have used the Hepburn VQ app and your Amazon Alexa account to set it all up, you no longer need any app to use ALEXA! The Hepburn Voice becomes a standalone Alexa device!Having said, having the Hepburn Voice app handy, definitely opens up way more features for the Bluetooth speaker side of things!Now on to the matter of, "it's not a radio, but it is, sort of". Essentially it is a portable rechargeable Bluetooth speaker that looks like a deluxe vintage radio that you can just leave plugged in as a standalone Alexa unit. And because it has Alexa, you can pretty much stream almost any radio station, free, that you like via the various Alexa skills/services like TuneIn, Live365 and many more! So not only does it look like a radio, you can make it sound like one too! ;)So for me, it's a win win! And with the added bonus of a built in rechargeable battery, you can use it on the go! Took my ages to figure out what it was and how it works. Planet radio, Global radio and Spotify etc. Originally gave this a one star. I have now found out how to work it so the station choice is not as limited as I thought. It was quite quick to set up even for someone like me who is old and technology phobic. Trouble was it looked like the Roberts radio I have already and I though this was a radio. When I read the box it does say I am not a radio, I am a smart speaker. Now I have no clue what a smart speaker is but I shall persevere.

In effect, a hi-fi Alexa! Good sound, easy to set up, good looking, good value - what's to dislike?(I can't comment on the battery life - I use it connected to the mains.)

Looks the part in my kitchen. Great sound and connects to my phone by Bluetooth without any problems once it was all set up. Alexa sometimes has a bit of a wobble with the "Sorry I can't connect right now", but otherwise ok.The only thing I don't like is the sound notifications when you turn it on, change modes or turn it off. There is no way to change the volume of the announcements and they are a bit loud for my liking. VQ said there is no adjustment possible. Not a deal breaker, but a bit of an oversight in the firmware.

Poor quality, design is awful. The sound in hollow and tinny at best.I have the older version which is much better.App is useless.You could buy a cheap Bluetooth speaker and stream for a tenth of the price.The people that have left great reviews for this product clearly have nothing good to reference it to.Awful product!

Really pleased with this speaker/radio, I have a VQ Monty I really like and noticed this Hepburn voice with Alexa. It's great, looks stylish, has a nice quality weight to the unit. The handle is metal not plastic, the whole unit has a quality feel. I'm enjoying using "Alexa play this song/radio etc", the sound quality is very good and easily fills a large room with sound. I like the sound of the vocals and you can hear each instrument in the background, I turned the bass down a bit but that's personal preference. The only downside is the set up out of the box, I stumbled getting Alexa to work and Bluetooth took ages to pair, I think some people would find getting Alexa working a challenge. Device isn't shown on the list of Alexa products to pair?

It is an amazing product but it has some deep gash marks in the pvc print on the back.... these are noticeableI’ve contacted the company so hoping they can assist .....

I've got a few echo products but liked the design of this a lot more. Sits well on the kitchen window ledge. Very easy to set up with the VQ app that gets it online, then its just like alexa but when you turn up the volume blimey its impressively powerful proper stereo stuff! Like the idea of including standalone bluetooth as well so i can use it outside in the summer with the battery already built in too.
