Works just as promised
This is an amazing product. I am unable to get any consistent wifi signal in my basement as the router is in my attic. I literally plugged this in next to my computer in the attic and then next to my smart TV in the basement. It worked immediately and I was able to access the premium content on my TV. No further setup or configuration needed. Couldn't be happier.

WIFI signal too low? Problem Solved
DO NOT PLUG THIS IN A POWER STRIP!!!!! It will cause random power outages, it needs to be plugged directly into the wall outlet. This saved me from buying a $200 router, If you want to cut down on the WIFI signals in your home for health reasons or if you need a connection where your WIFI does not reach... this is perfect for you. Plug & Play, EASY set up.

Good not great, does the job.
Bought this to connect my LG Smart TV to my home network so I could stream movies and TV shows from my computer in my office (3 rooms away) using PLEX media server. I was using the LG wireless dongle with the TV but found larger movie files played poorly and that the wireless signal while OK just was too unstable. So setup of this product was super easy, you literally plug in both adapters and then run ethernet cable (provided) from one adapter to your router and between the other adapter and your device. To start I wanted to benchmark test the speed of the Powerline, so I connected it to my laptop and shut the laptop's wireless radio off. I then started a large file download from my PC to the laptop and was getting around 3.1 MB/s or 24.8 Mbps, not the 200 as advertised. Now I realize 200 is theoretical but even considering 100 Mbps, I was only getting about 25% of that, not great (internal wireless on laptop during same test was getting around 5.5 MB/s or 44 Mbps).I then moved the laptop to a room right across from my office and tested it and got around 5.5 MB/s (44 Mbps) so quite a bit better which obviously was a result of the transfer having to go across less electrical wiring. So after these tests, I decided to hook the Powerline up to my TV to test the media streaming performance (why I bought it) and to my surprise it performed rather well. Load times, buffering, and how it played files was equal too if not slightly better than the wireless dongle. I would assume that part of this may have to do with the LG wireless dongle not being nearly as good as my laptops internal and having a wired connection is of course more stable. So in the end I have decided to keep this product and use it for my smart TV. Wireless is still the best option for our laptops in our house for it performs quite a bit better from the same distance from the router. We do have a small house though so if you have a larger home with more walls and potential wireless interruption you may find the Powerline 200 a good solution for laptops as well. Also, how your electrical circuits are setup in your house will effect performance too, if all your outlets are one one breaker you should have better performance (mine are not). You may also consider the Powerline 500 for more potential speed or the models that allow you to setup a WAP at the end adapterEither way if you are looking for a more reliable connection for smart TV's, video game consoles, etc, this product could be a great solution for you!

Good hardware, poor software utility
I added these two adapters to an existing network of three XAV2501 adapters. Setting the same security key on all five adapters was not straightforward. The new XAV1601v2 could not get the network key automatically from the existing XAV2501. Pressing the security button (on the old adapters first or on the new one first) did not work. I had to reset all the devices to make them work together. After that, setting a new key on all devices at the same time using the “NETGEAR genie” application did not work. Changing the key of one of the new XAV1601v2 would always fail with a “wrong password” error. I verified and retyped the password a dozen time without success (and the “genie” application erases the password each time you click on it to edit it, that’s poor design).I ended up setting the new key for the 3 old XAV2501 at the same time using the “genie” application, and then setting the key on the two new XAV1601v2 one at a time, connecting them directly to a PC.At the end, the 5 adapters work fine together, but the setup was very frustrating, the “genie” application does not work properly with different adapter models, or there is some kind of incompatibility between the old and the new adapters.

Purchased because the wireless connection to my Xbox 360 from our apartment router was iffy. Took a couple tries to get the devices to pair. Since then I have had zero issues with them. Work exactly as they should. Next purchase will be a switch so I can connect all my devices through it.
