Tremendous value
I think I have ordered this over almost 10 times now? The quality and freshness is basically impossible to beat for decaf coffee. And I have looked extensively. I drink decaf elusively due to a caffeine sensitivity but I just love the taste of coffee. I also am somewhat health paranoid so I only drink coffee that is decaffeinated using water. (no chemicals). This coffee checks all my boxes. It tastes absolutely delightful, uses swiss water decaffeination, and is also somehow the most affordable out there?! Everywhere else I look, sellers want over $2.00/oz. This is roughly $1.40/oz and, as of writing this, it is randomly on sale for $0.99/oz. This is a no brainer folks! As far as taste, what keeps me coming back is that it is the right amount of complex and simple. Some coffees do have a wonderfully complex and exotic taste. But as much as I am a thrill seeker, I don't really like to daily drive those types of coffees. However I certainly do not want Folgers in my cup in the morning. This has a really universally appealing profile in my opinion. It's rich, medium to dark, chocolatey, smooth, and has low acidity when brewed correctly. I am a pour-over kind of person which means I get to screw up my variables from time to time and enjoy some of the hidden character of the coffee. I am not a coffee master by any means but compared to what I have tried, this is quite resilient to bitterness. I have done an accidental 20-minute immersion steep with this coffee and the result was surprisingly enjoyable. Bitter, yes, but very rich and textured and pretty fun. I drank the whole cup! Something IMPORTANT to note. This is by far the best coffee I have tried for Iced-Coffee in the summer, hands down. I do not know what it is, but other coffees, even those expensive and niche ones, just don't take a cold brew quite like this one. A cold-brew of this with some cream and just a dash of sugar tastes like the most expensive chocolate bar you've ever drank. It is seriously good. I really hope they keep this coffee and keep it competitively priced because I will be getting it for the foreseeable future.

Finally—a decaf that actually tastes like coffee.
Finally—a decaf that actually tastes like coffee. I’m pretty picky about my coffee, and finding a decent decaf has been a struggle. Most of them taste like cardboard or colored water, but Kicking Horse is easily the best I’ve ever had. I use the pour-over method, and I was really impressed by how well this roast holds up. Usually, decaf can feel a bit thin when you brew it this way, but this has a great body and a really rich, dark flavor. Even the bloom during the pour-over was better than most caffeinated beans I’ve bought recently. You can tell the beans are fresh and high quality. It’s bold and smooth without that weird chemical aftertaste you get with cheaper brands, probably because of the Swiss Water Process. If you’re like me and love the ritual of a pour-over but need to skip the caffeine, this is a total game-changer. I’m definitely making this my go-to from now on.

Great decaf
I find this decaf to be the best I've found so far since Covid took out out local small roasting company. I personally don't think it's quite a dark roast, but I just use a little more. I love the flavor profile. When I first open a bag, I get a definite hit of hazelnut and once brewed, love the smooth, rich chocolate notes. If you do a mix of decaf and regular as I sometimes do, it goes really well with their Grizzly Claw. It has a similar flavor profile, but is a little lighter roast ( they label it a dark roast) Some people find it expensive, but it just depends on who you're buying from. Check all the prices, sometimes there's a really good deal. There's also always some way overpriced sellers. Just calculate the cost per ounce to make sure you're getting the best price.

Great coffee with full body and rich taste
This is by far one of the best decaf coffees I have ever tried. There are several things that I like about it. First I prefer dark roast over medium roast, and every decaf coffee I’ve tried is usually a medium roast. I was so happy to see this brand had a dark roast. The coffee has nutty, chocolate and caramel notes. I use the pour over method and use a slightly bigger than a medium grind. I get a full bodied rich cup of coffee. To those who say it lacks flavor, I would suggest trying a different grind size or a different brew method because that can greatly affect the outcome of your coffee. I start with 21 g of coffee beans grind them fresh and use the pour over method the total of 280 g of water with a start to finish time of 3 1/2 minutes. I always get a great rich satisfying cup of coffee

Best decaf ever
I have to drink a lot of decafs in my life, and this is absolutely the best. Sorry I didn’t review it before because I didn’t want you guys to run out before I ordered more.. kind of selfish. It is not bitter yet. It is full of flavor. It’s the perfect decaf. You wouldn’t know it is decaf even I’m 65 and I’ve had a lot of decaf and this is better than any more expensive brand. I’ve had other brand I’ve had.

No funny decaf taste.
This is yummy coffee if you simply love coffee. I recently have had to go to decaf and refuse to drink nasty funny tasting coffee and this is in my opinion great coffee. It smells rich and taste full bodied. I grind each cup fresh.

A bit inconsistent
Have already ordered my second shipment. This brand is delicious. Was never able to drink decaf as most I’ve tried were terrible. I am picky about having the Swiss water process and organic beans, so this fits my needs. Not as expensive as some others out there, but definitely not cheap either, but because it it both organic and Swiss water decafed, I am willing to pay a bit more. Update: Okay, so my third order, I went for the larger 2.2 pound package since I liked it so much. This time there was a noticeable difference in the appearance of the beans. They looked much darker and had a slightly burnt nose to them. I often make a blend of decaf and regular coffee so I am hoping my regular coffee will subdue any off-flavor from these over roasted beans. I do however sometimes make a full decaf cup and I’m not sure I am going to enjoy this. Yes, it’s a dark roast, I get that, but there is such a thing as over roasting. My regular coffee is a dark roast, but it’s no where near the darkness of this particular bag. I also realize there is a science to roasting and sometimes there can be variations in the way the bean responds, so maybe this was a “one-off” batch. I may order again since I know the first two times were great, but also may try another brand depending on how long it takes me to get through this big bag. ( I am the only coffee drinker in my house, but I vacuum pack my beans in mason jars in amounts I use up within a week to keep them fresher). Another option would be to get a medium roast to blend to soften the taste a bit. Time will tell.

Great decaf - at long last!
I am so delightfully pleased with Kicking Horse’s decaf coffee! Smooth and not bitter. I’ve tried a number of decaf varieties as I have to limit my caffeine intake. This is my new-found top place. Great beverage.
