Magnificent!
Everything about this book is hauntingly beautiful. I suppose I was aware on some level that February 11 had come and gone, marking 11 years since Lee passed away. As someone who followed his work with an almost religious-like devotion, there’s something incredibly tender and simultaneously heart-rending about the intimacy of these photos. From his first collection (“The Birds”) to his very last (“Plato’s Atlantis”), he created countless masterpieces. Perhaps it’s trite so say, but no one ever truly knows what a person is feeling when he/she us alone and by all accounts, A. McQueen was one who wrestled with demons the entirety of his life. He was a genius and while Sarah Burton is to be commended for her efforts to recast the House’s image through the eyes of a woman, softening much of the prickly/abrasive elements that defined the late designer’s work, the world is a little less colorful without Lee in it.

Great photo-archive!
Great book for any true fan of Lee McQueen. Not a biography, and not recommended for those who wish to learn about McQueen's life. There is a lengthy introduction by the author on her history and relationship with McQueen, as well as her response to life after his death, and there are a few quotes by Lee and by other's about Lee sporadically strewn about the book, but for the most part it is a giant photo album. There are a few portraits of McQueen, and a couple of his workroom, but the vast majority are from backstage during runway. Of models, gowns, Lee working, the set pre- and post-show, etc. They are split up by show, and there is also a section of his work at Givenchy. It gives a rare, backstage glance at the magic of his shows. The book is huge (and I mean huge), but I still found myself wanting more. That is my only complaint about this book, is that I wanted more pictures. However, I think I would have that response no matter how many pictures there are, so it is really a mute point. Overall, great coffee table book for any McQueen, or fashion in general, fan!

Stunning art book.
I adore Alexander McQueen. He's considered one of my favourite designers, if not artists, of all time. When I saw this book, I knew I had to have it. The book itself is huge, which I'm grateful for because it means you can really examine all the details in the photographs. The cover is a silky fabric. And the photos are stunning. Since you can't actually be backstage at a McQueen show, this is the next best thing.

Grab this immediately !!!
This is without question the best deal I've ever gotten on amazon. I think I paid $11.75 WITH shipping included for this book with a listed cover price of $75... And it's WORTH the $75!!! As a fashion photographer who has shot for designers , models and runways, seeing this intimate behind the scenes window into the world of the legendary and iconic Alexander McQueen is an almost priceless access. The portraits, the models, the detail close ups and blurred chaos of motion, every page offers something new and exciting in this HUGE coffee table masterpiece. It's on my coffee table between books of Miles Aldridge and Kate Moss and fits perfectly as a new mainstay.

Intimate portrayal
There are several books documenting McQueen’s genius but none as intimate as this. The photographs really capture the essence that is Alexander McQueen. The personal experiences recounted by those who were lucky enough to work with him and be close to him is the perfect combination. I highly recommend adding this to your collection!

Stunning unbelievably stunning
The thing about this book is that you are being a window inside the most stunning intimate world this a planet has ever witnessed. You can feel the genius on every page. It takes your breath away again and again , until you feel the pain and the loss of something so immense that only tears can explain it. Lee Alexander McQueen. He was an angel come to earth and his visions come to life just cannot be explained they had to be witnessed. Only tears that stream down your cheeks can explain it. All of this. Was real , not imagined. It was exquisite. Like the epicentre of sex , in that split second of release you see an explosion of beauty. You want more and you want to grasp it again. He was creating an orchestra of visual beauty. The likes of which we will never see again. It was his mind that was speaking . His heart that was bleeding onto each dress.this was art. These photographs blissfully capture the intimacy of creation . Mind blowing book. We yearn for more. Each stylist, make up artist , jewellery designer, hair designer here was being given a taste of nirvana. It will never leave them . His work ,his art will never leave us.McQueen.Lee.The Master of the Exquisite. Thank you.
