It is exciting to see Baldwin licensing Kwikset’s Smartkey technology to use in their Prestige Series locks. It won’t be able to use the traditional C-Keyway that Baldwin has been using for many years, rather instead this Prestige Series uses KW1 keyways. So this lock cannot be re-keyed to match other Baldwin keys that may still be in use, but It can be re-keyed to match Kwikset keys. It is important know this one limitation before purchasing.The price point on the deadbolt is favorable compared to other popular manufacturer’s. Baldwin has always been a premium price over most of the competition. It does appear that the quality of the lock is also more on par with the competition. It doesn’t have quite the heft and mass of their other handcrafted series. However with that being said it does have an excellent finish and good looks.The deadbolt took me longer to install than normal. It has a dual rod turning system that I was not used to. The keyed cylinder is lower down on the exterior mount and the D-rod coming out of it actually goes underneath the throw bolt. It then mates up with the interior portion of the deadbolt and thru a gear system turns another rod that is the one that turns the throw bolt. I think this design gives you more leverage and makes key turning a bit easier. I found it didn’t turn well until both sides were lined up and the 2 mounting screws firmly tightened. Afterwards it was easy to throw the deadbolt.All the hardware was included that is needed to install the deadbolt. The look and function is great. I really like the large key head of the Baldwin keys. It makes them easier to use besides looking very nice. Given the competitive price point and the Baldwin name, I would recommend this lock if you like the design. I have found it to be very good quality in aesthetics and function. The squared off design and simple lines of the Torrey Pines Series looks really good with Craftsman and Shaker Styles. I would have given it 4.5 stars if I could but I’m going to round up.

I absolutely love the look and security of Baldwin locks. The product arrived fast and was packaged well. Comparable pricing to home repair box stores without standing in line or pandemic exposure. Great valueThe ability to self rekey is the biggest bonus. I use the feature when I have house guest or house sitter keys given out. It’s also great for rental and AirBNB lock changes. Super easy to do.Definitely added peace of mind in a stylish way.

This door handle is attractive and sturdy. It definitely feels elegant.

I really love these handles, we have put them all through the house. They are easy on my arthritic hands and look amazing.

Had no trouble removing my old door handle and installing this one but could not get the locking mechanism to work. Finally called the support number on instructions and the person who answered asked me if this was the “prestige” series set. As this is the “prestige” series she gave me detailed instructions regarding the set screws (on both handles) which were NOT in the written instructions which finally solved my problem. Now that it works I’m very pleased with the unit.

Nice and heavy door handles. I ordered 3 different kinds and had to return them because they were difficult to use or install or felt very cheap. The pin hole in the privacy knobs are also a lot easier to open than other brands. Some are almost impossible to unlock. They look great and feel nice and heavy and super easy to install. Definitely recommend. I wish they came in satin brass.

I both two Baldwin locks one Single Cylinder Deadbolt Featuring SmartKey and second Keyed Entry Lever Featuring SmartKey. This last one had a manufacturer defect, they forgot to pre-install one of the screws to tighten the exterior lever. You can see from the provided photos.So I returned for exchange hope a new one will be in normal condition.To be honest the deadbolt lock works and looks perfect. Let see how long it will stay.I will update my review after receiving a replacement. 3/15/19How I promised now I'm updating my review. I was not quick-witted how that pre-installed screws are works. In order to tighten the handles, the screws must be unscrewed in different directions which is not quite clearly described in the manual.Now I'm going to score five stars because of both locks looks and works well. Hope this review will help the manufacturer to describe this part of the installation more intelligible. 03/18/19

would have returned it but desperately needed it installed. we put the scratched side to the inside but not a nice thing to think about every time you leave the house
