They are harder and to be honest, they are a cheaper feeling material. They dent and bend and the velcro that holds them together easily falls off. **Q: Is set BPA free?** A: Learning Resources takes the health and well-being of our customers seriously. We go to great lengths to ensure all of our products are tested and are both BPA and lead compliant. This product has been tested and is compliant to the standards set by the CPSIA, including lead.
