ya, this hurts.

This is a great book to push the intermediate/advancing student and a good book to keep you skills sharp. They are quick etudes and alternate between slow and quick paced, intensifying in key signature difficulty as the book continues. All music for the Texas all-state tryout back in my day came from this book.

48 Famous Studies will take you through the entire range of your instrument as well as progressions, arpeggios, time signatures, and interpretation. It strengthens your wrists, diaphram and your ability to read difficult passages and musical implementations. I strongly recommend this book.
