Good product with slight downside
These putties are the real deal. Mine had (and still have) a slight odor, so I washed them and air them out occasionally and store them in a sealed bag. Worth the money, though, and much better than a pair I bought from an eBay seller, which had a much stronger odor (perhaps a disinfectant?). I wore them in a WWI I reenactment, but they would also be great to wear when shoveling snow or hiking. Very warm. The beauty of wool is that it will keep you warm even when wet.

Great Putties!
I can't speak to the WW1 authenticity, or otherwise, of these putties because I am not a re-enacter or expert. I bought them because, where I live, winter temperatures drop to -20°C, or lower, and I get chill blains on my lower legs when I go outside in windy conditions. I was looking for extra protection for the lower legs, and these putties certainly provide that. Functionally, they are excellent. They appear, to me, to be made of felted wool, and they are completely wind-proof. The straps, which are not made from artificial fibres, are very non-slip and keep them nice and tight. They also came very quickly, despite being shipped from India. Excellent quality materials and workmanship in manufacturing.

Great quality for the price!
I bought these four years ago when I first started to put together my reenactment kit and have had no reason to replace them! I came back to buy a second pair now just to have as a backup or for a second kit. These are good quality and durable and make a nice solid wrap around your legs!

Strong Smell, Good Enough Quality.
The product is decent. However, like others say it stinks to high heaven. Luckily running it through the wash was able to get rid of most of the scent for me, but I already see signs of it fraying. I took it out for a test run for an hour or two and it mostly held up. I think this is decent if you just need something on the cheaper end that will be good enough for your basic cosplay or whatever needs, but maybe not so much if you're trying to do something on a high end professional level.

Excellent
Wow. Very good for this leg pain . I use it and it releases the strain after my dance classes.

The Smell
The quality of the putties are legit, material is authentic, the smell is definitely there. It’s quite the stench so be warned when opening these things. Definitely couple washes to get that smell out. That’s the one thing I have to say is the smell of a sheep, hence the wool

No complaints 👌
Nice wraps for your ankles. I use these for my job when I need to go outside. I wear shorts inside and don't feel like throwing a suit on so I wrap my legs with these and they work. I also have a pair for my Jedi costume so I recommend since I've bought then a couple times now.

Perfect for their intended use as warm woolen leg wraps
These are very long, almost too long for me and my 30-inch inseam (they only go on your lower legs, but I wanted to give a comparison measure). They work *great* for my medieval reenactment group use as Scandinavian leg wraps. They are extra warm because I can wrap them closely with so much length, and they tie off or tuck in well to stay up very well through an all-day event. I love that they are washable wool - I don't have to worry about them holding onto mud stains or letting dampness seep through easily. I will use these a lot, was I live in a climate that has snow and ice or cold rain for half the year. They are perfect for what they are!

Wrapping these well takes practice. Delivery was quick and the quality is excellent. They really set off my Steampunk outfit.

Great Puttees. Sturdy and strong, although a tad thinner and more felt-like than genuine WWI examples, but thats to be expected. They wrap nice and stay tight. Rather more Yankee green than British Brown. Cut as straight strips rather than on a curve. They will warp in places with use, but this is entirely as it should be! It will make for a tighter more personalized fit so long as they are wrapped the same way each time. I would recomend for costume or personal use. Are great for hiking.

The product was in extremely good condition and looked exactly right. However the smell from the product was extremely strong. I entirely understand this if it had been impregnated with a chemical perhaps intended in a country like India where I understand it to have been manufactured to ensure that it was germ-free or infection resistant. It made me leave it on the veranda as the smell was giving me a headache. It's been there now for around a week and the smell may have subsided. I invite the company to explain the strong smell of chemical and fully accept that it could be necessary! Until I know the reason for it I cannot give any review designated in stars (the three star review was just necessary to be able to leave the comment), as as I have explained the appearance alone would warrant five, but the headache-induced smell would lower the mark unless it is warranted.
