A solid introduction to the types of conjure in the US
Crossroads of Conjure isn't a how-to book, but it's a great overview of the different flavors of conjure that we find in the United States. Rasbold provides a cultural background for the origin and current practice for each of the different types of conjure, as well as providing enough information to give us a taste of the different types of conjure. I appreciate Rasbold's review of the different groups and have a better understanding of the differences in beliefs and practices between the different aspects. This is a great read for anyone who is curious about conjure.

Nice read
It has a little bit if history of how hoodoo came to be in the US. There only a few particular spells and psalms in it, but it's actually a pretty fascinating book that gets you started with the basics and explains how conjure actually works.

The sources of information!
Loving this book, just started to read it so I cannot give my full opinion on it just yet but, what I have read is insightful and informative! I have been a Practitioner for some time, so not new to this scene!

Well written, informative, and immensely readable
While most people think of European roots for modern day witchcraft, this book takes a look at the American roots of conjure. Fabulous perspective, well researched, and interesting. I gifted a copy to my niece who is now a fan as well.

A discussion of Southern Conjure practices
If you’re considering becoming involved in conjure or wish to learn more about its culture, this is a great book to read. Crossroads of Conjure compares and discusses current conjure practices in the American South -- namely Hoodoo, Appalachian Granny Magic, and Brujeria and Curandismo. Each section gives an overview of the history and development of a magical path, covering their basic beliefs, distinguishing characteristics and differences. It goes into the politics and prejudices amongst today’s practitioners. It was interesting to read how each practice is distinguished from other styles of magic and even divisions within their own practices. What makes each magical path unique ranges anywhere from materials worked with, ethics and attitudes towards types of magical practices (i.e. what is considered white or black magic), religious affiliations with their path and their tolerance of other religious practices. The author has clearly been deeply involved in each path and has a lot of experience which she shares with the readers. This is not a book to read if you’re interested in a how-to. It does have a little folk magic and wisdom included, but it is minor.A received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review of this book.

Do you HooDoo or VooDoo?
Many of us are aware of the Asian roots of much of the alternative spiritual practice that has caught our attention. Now many of us are beginning to explore nature-based spiritual and magical practices that are less well understood. Thus it would seem that the time is right for a book that takes us through the American practices that, to date, are unknown or glossed over superficially. Katrina Rasbold has risen to that challenge with this amazing book.Using her own magical experience as a starting point, she takes readers on a tour through the history and practices of African-American HooDoo (and the Creole variations of VooDoo), Scotch-Irish-Appalachian Granny (Mountain) Magic, and (the least publicized) Hispanic-American Brujería and Curanderismo.Reader-friendly and engaging, the book contains an incredible amount of information. I came away with a much better understanding of how these traditions vary both in practice and philosophy. She does remind us throughout that in their pure forms they all intend to be of service for the highest possible good.(InannaWorks.com received a free review copy of this book.)
