Chapulines (grasshoppers) - Gourmet edible insects from Oaxaca Mexico 100 G - 3.52 Oz (Seasoned)

These have another spice that makes them taste like the Adobo flavored ones from another company. IF YOU WANT JUST GRASSHOPPER AND LEMON SALT FLAVOR THESE ARE NOT IT. I wish I could return them cause the CHille taste is like over smoked burnt earthy chiles that I personally hate. All I want is Grasshoppers, I LOVE grasshoppers, lemon and salt is good but the chile they put on these and other brands ruins them In my opinion. If your like me these are NOT for you.

I loved the salty, rich lemony taste. There was a glorious umami, whether from the grasshoppers or the marinade I do not know.I did not like the price, 45 years ago I ate all the free grasshoppers I wanted by collecting them from pastures near my house. Also, many were in pieces instead of being whole, big grasshoppers like I grew up on, but these must have been in a 5-star marinade, they taste so rich.

This is my 2nd go at the grasshoppers. I had first gotten the "Seasoned" grasshoppers.Again these are a large enough packaging to get a good experience. These were a little more crunchy than the seasoned batch. I named them 'salty lemon' as they were on the more salty side of 'salt and lemon' but that is reduced by adding no salt to the preparation you are going to eat.Now that I have had this experience I am going to try out the Adobo seasoned ones next.

He loved them and gobbled them all up in a week. He is now12. This was the biggest jar I could find on Amazon.I tried them, tasted good, kinda high on the spicing for eating like popcorn though. I saw them as a good sprinkle on your salad and would use them instead of croutons or nuts on a salad.They were quite good, less spice/salt I could eat them like popcorn.

This is a great deal with a bigger amount than you'd get from other brands. But, my only complaint is that it tastes too strong. Very salty and even the lemon is too much. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth afterwards... My honest opinion.

Came back from Mexico a week ago and loved the chapulines so I decided to get them from Amazon but these tasted disgusting it even gave me diarrhea for 1 whole day! Please don’t buy this

I like the quantity and level of spice of the marinated. It’s a touch stronger but it does cover up the grassy gamey taste of some of the grasshoppers. The seasoning may be a good or bad depending on what you are looking for. The taste is chili forward with a nice lemon finish.
