These grips are the bomb. I’m done with cold hands and thick gloves. I would rate them with 5 stars if the controls weren’t so cheaply made. Everything else was top shelf. Be advised, it is not an easy install on the KTM 790.

I purchased these to install on a KTM 790 Adventure R. I believe these are the same parts for other KTM models also, so your installation experience may vary. On my bike the install was straightforward since it is pre wired for these grips. I will skip any details of the instructions since there are several good videos available on youtube and the printed instructions included with the parts are fairly clear. There is no need for a wiring relay if you otherwise do not have any non KTM electrical accessories installed. You can do the job with the tools in your KTM toolkit, but a ratchet with a set of torx bits, and 5mm hex are handy.Removing the original grips and installing the heated grips themselves was easy and about a 30 minute job, including removing/reinstalling the handguards and stopping to watch the video again to verify the correct throttle tube position. Getting the wire from the throttle side slotted into the correct position inside the housing is fiddly but not difficult.Routing the wiring to the connectors is the more challenging part of the installation. The entire headlight/instrument unit needs to be removed to access the connectors, don't mess around trying to get there from the front of the headlight, there's no shortcut. Once revealed, you will find two pre greased sets of accessory connectors, be sure to use the correct pair of wires and test your function before putting it back together. Getting all the other wires bundled back into the housing was not as challenging as I expected. Altogether, the installation took about 90 minutes.The performance is AWESOME. I have only tested them down to about 50F, but I have never wanted to leave them set any higher than the lowest setting. The other three are too warm at this temperature with summer gloves on, so I'm sure that they will provide penetrating heat in much colder temperatures and with thicker gloves. Setting 1=warm/2=toasty/3=hot/ 4=glacial meltingToo bad that KTM does not integrate the control and display into the instrument panel. Overall though, these are as good as you can ask for in terms of fit, ease of installation, usability and heat output. Totally recommended for your bike, recommended home garage install for any experienced or eager home mechanic.
