Great Collection of Later Rerecordings and New Material
This is an excellent collection of later rerecordings and recordings of new material from 1968 (8 tracks), 1973 (6 tracks) and 1979 (4 tracks). In my opinion the rerecordings of iconic songs such as Rock Around the Clock sound better than the 50s originals, bearing in mind that the majority of his hits were originally recorded between 1952 to 1956. Indeed they recapture the original vibrant intensity of the originals. I only wish that his 1971 Rock Around the Country album was released on CD as that represented some of his finest work. These are hard to find recordings and I am glad that I chanced upon this CD which only cost me 99p plus postage.
