Security Operations Center - SIEM Use Cases and Cyber Threat Intelligence Paperback – March 26, 2018

So far I have skimmed this book. With very few good books on SOC , this may be one of the best. I will follow back up when I finish reading.

The technical content and overall structure of this book are solid. The author wisely focuses more on theory and abstract rather than implementation of popular solutions. However, it is clear to the reader that the grammatical editing of this book is weak and probably done by someone whose primary language is not English. Some sections have entire paragraphs that are formatted differently but are nearly word for word and adjacent to each other.Lastly the type setting on this box is lacking. Large fonts and ample margins fail to make use of the amount of printed page space. Almost as if this was not intended for print but only for digital formatting on an electronic reading device.A second edition will hopefully be released that will address these major but distracting issues from the solid on topic technical content.

The best book available in market for SOC

Not recommended!! The book is a summarized version, of various free content available from the internet. You could have at least done a better job by presenting and visualizing it, even if there was nothing new. I believed in those star rated review comments and bought the book in all honesty and the hope for new concepts, content and learning. What a disappointment!!. Technology has evolved, process has been re-drawn with automation and critical thinking is the new norm for new-gen SOC's and this books fails in all the above said department. A topic such as Security operations can be well written in theory but a tough nut to crack in practice. It is difficult to find a sweet spot and books and literature helps us re-define as we move forward, but this books FAILS in getting to that point. I can get better content from Mitre, NIST and other vendor resources, which are free source; instead i fell for this titile. I would NOT recommend this book.
