Primos calls are the way to go
This is more of an instrument than a call, but one that takes very little time to learn. A reed comes pre-fitted to the mouthpiece and has a built-in cap that protects it, which is very handy when transporting. They generously include a backup reed which is easily replaceable in the event you damage the first. The product description mentions that the protective cap can store the backup reed, but in my experience it tends to fit just loose enough to make it liable to be lost when the cap is not on. I would recommend not doing this and storing the extra reed separately. If you run out of reeds and have a diaphragm call you should be able to use it like a grunt tube too.The biggest downside to this thing is the size, which makes it a challenge to move around. Make sure you have room in your pack or plan to strap it to the side. The included strap is functional enough but not great, and you probably won’t want to wear it for long.Because the calls it makes are so loud, you also need to consider that it will not always be easy to practice without disturbing someone around you, as it is easily audible through multiple layers of wall. Hard to fault the call for that though, since it’s purpose is to mimic an elk; I’m sure the neighbors would hear that too if one challenge bugled in my house.Overall, highly recommended and can’t beat the price. If you’re in the market for an elk bugle this is the one you want.

Not just for calling elk
I dont know much about calling elk, but this works great for saying hello to friends from a long ways away. It's so loud. They'll hear it from several apartment complexes away. The neighbors might not like the way you say hello to your friends but some might buy one of their own and join in the fun. Try it and see for your self.

Great call but a little awkward to carry
Call sounds great. It is lightweight but a little awkward to to carry, especially if you hunt with a pack. I'm sure I can figure it out. I tried the collapsible Primos call this year. It was easier to carryh and elk answered it at close range but it didn't sound as realistic as this one does.

GREAT BUY!
What a RIOT! My CTO LOVES elks and has created a monthly "Elk" award which results the a hard-working winner receiving a prize related to elks. When I stumbled across this elk call instrument, I laughed out loud. The video is so funny and the tool itself is so eclectic and interesting that I could not help but purchase it! The video is true to sound although it takes a few tries to figure out how to use it correctly/well (as with anything). I'm sure this is useful when elk hunting but, for my office, it's simply a silly tool that makes us giggle.

As expected.
Looks and sounds good. I haven't put any real effort into it but am impressed by the sounds it makes.

Good for beginners
It’s perfect for beginners! However it sounds like a flute when you try to use it to chuckle.

Either Elk Are Stupid Or This Is A Great Call
I'm a wildlife photographer and thought this might help me get a little closer to some nice bulls during the rut. I spent a few days at home driving the dogs crazy practicing in the house when no one else was around. Then spent my 1st day in the field just listening to 4 bulls talking back and forth getting a better feel of the sounds they were producing. The next day I had bulls answering me the 1st time I tried. The size of the call is a small issue in heavy brush, but for the most part, I love it. Probably will make a larger cammo cover for it to hide the shiny end.

Great call
Great for beginners such as myself. I’ve struggled trying to get the diaphragm calls to sound right. With this I was able to make a realistic bugle on the first try. Super easy to use, light weight and great sounding. The only con is that if you use it a lot the reeds will stretch out, but they’re easy to replace.
