PirastroObligato up to 16.5" Viola String Set - Medium Gauge

I love these strings! I’ve been using them over a month and love their sound. My viola is a pretty bright instrument and adding these strings gives me the great middle ground between bright and warm I’ve been looking for. The only downside I’ve seen is their ability to stay in tune, the first 2-3 weeks I was using them would go out quite a bit. But now it’s less frequent maybe 2-3 times a week. Their sound is staying and has even gotten stronger since the first week I put them on. Overall great strings for university to professional players.

My viola playing is based more on enthusiasm than talent so I need all the help I can get. These strings noticeably improved the sound quality. Coupled with a "Professional Model Menuhin Shield Type" mute, they made my student-quality viola sound pretty darn good! The strings were spendy but I felt it was worth it and I'll buy Obligato strings again next time they need to be changed.

Excellent strings. They're one of my personal favorites as a violist of 8 years. Very warm tone. They project a lot. They also have a wonderful mellow side to them. They ring especially well when they're new. I think the only limitation is that the A string maybe isn't as clear and quick responding as some other strings like Evah Pirazzi Gold.

Just bought a new viola and felt like the tone just wasn't what I wanted. I made the decision to order the Obligato's and I really love the tone.They made the tone so much more melodious. I am thinking about trying them on my violin. I have only had them a few days but they claim to be stable and hold the tune very quickly and it seems that claim is correct. So far, I am happy with my choice.

Love them! I tried several other strings and had put these off due to the slightly higher price. The benefit of having tried other strings is that it gave me experience. Obligatos produce the nice dark warm tone that I have been searching for. I had Dominants before and they were easy to play but lacked the extra richness I was looking for. I really liked my Kaplan Forte sound but they were more difficult to play and lacked responsiveness for my stage of musical developement. Helicore was too tinny for my taste. Somfar so good with the Obligatos.
