They are not metal.
The original metal ones rusted out after a few years. These won’t. I’ve had the skimmers for 7 years and they still work great

Easy to use
Replacing these parts was much cheaper than purchasing a new Skim Doctor. The replacement of the parts took about 10 minutes.

Doesn't work as good as the original metal fastners, but no worry about 'rust' any longer.
These work very well, but since they are not metal and screw to really lock everything down, the SkimDoctor plates and unit does shift around when handling and emptying, so constantly having to 'pull it tight' again before placing back; however, gets the job done and no more orange-mess and pollution from the original threaded screws and nuts that started to corrode very early in its life.I am satisfied with this new revision and the quality is nice and appears that it should last for a very long time with lots of use and movement/stress.

Easy install
The pressure fitting slides on the stem snugly and creates a solid bond between the cyclone attachment and skimmer basket.

Skim doctor replacement
They work very well but they need replacing every 6 months or so because the rubber that holds the strips in place wear out

These are Terrible
My originals lasted 6 years. On one of my skimmers, one of the original metal screws broke. I replace them with these. I was unable to get them to hold the top securely to the basket. If the skimmer gets lot of small particles in it to the point where there's suction on it, and you try to take the basket out without shutting the pump off these will just let go and you'll have parts everywhere. This is complete junk and shows that the company no longer cares about the product. These could have been HDPE with acme threads or screws made out of 304 stainless steel (more expensive, but I would have bought). I'm not sure what the thought process behind these were, but this is not a functional replacement.

Disintegrates in less than a year.
Love skim doctor. But I don’t like how these plastic fasteners were designed. They’re easy enough to install, but the material used is so inferior. They literally disintegrate after a few months to a year. They break apart while in use and some parts get sucked into your pool filter. The version 1.0 fasteners outlasted the skimmer. This version turned into a maintenance item. Oh the white plastic pieces do not hold the black rods securely. You have to gingerly remove the skimmer basket with the skim doctor to prevent them from slipping. I’m going with the zip tie method and just replace them every 3 to 4 months if it’s going to be part of maintenance anyway. Still going to be cheaper and secure than these frail plastic fasteners.
