You Are My Sunshine

I have enjoyed Stanley Gordon West's writings in the past. "Blind Your Ponies" was one of my all time favorites! This one, not so much. It was an interesting book but there were a lot of things that just come out of the blue, some of which are not even necessary for the story. The dark side of the story has a lighter ending, but it was somewhat disturbing to read. On the plus side, it shows the courage and steadfastness of the homesteading families who settle in places like Montana and fight hard to survive the difficult winters to enjoy and live in the beauty of the State.

I have read all of Stanley Gordon West's books and this one is by far his worst effort. The beginning of the book covered about 50 years in just a few chapters while the rest of the book covered a very short amount of time (just a few years). There were characters that just disappeared, others were developed for no particular reason, and he really pushed the reader to consider the possibility of accepting an incestuous relationship. His other books are all quite incredible and I recommend them highly. This one....not so much.

This is my least favorite of West's books. It is also the one that completed our reading all his books. Maybe that explains why the plot in this one was several times predictable, which is unusual for his books. It still is a very good read; it just doesn't measure up the excellence of his other books which I cannot recommend more highly

Blind Your Ponies is the best book I have ever read, I have given away countless copies of that book over the past few years. I was so excited to read this newest by Stanley Gordon West. It was good, but not even close to the caliber of Blind Your Ponies.

this is a very good writer , story flows well---can read one chapter at a time and keep people straight with out long read peroid

If you LOVE wide open spaces like Montana ,you will Love this book! Another beautifully written book by Stanley Gordon West! I can see the images in my mind as his descriptions are right on point! Native Montanan myself ,he doesn't miss a thing!

Wests books are very hard to find...our library doesn't even have many of his books.This is his new one and its very good, but not as good as "Blind Your Ponies"...my all time fave.

Stanley Gordon West is my favorite writer! Cannot wait for his next book, hope it is soon. This one was excellent, like all the rest of them.
