Monster High Password Journal 8

I got this for my six year old and she absolutely loved it. She is a monster high junkie so when I saw it was LESS expensive that the same one in just plain pink I had to get it even though all the reviews on it being unable to open after the password was set were there for me to read.Well she was able to set it up all by herself! She loves the feature that allows her to record a greeting for when the password given is incorrect. Hers says. "Nice try brother..now get lost!"Now I do believe that the trick to making sure no one gets locked out of their dairy is to make the password one word and something simple. It may seem like it defeats the purpose or takes the fun out of it but lets be real, it's more of a novelty item than a real technologically capable device that is going to recognize a lengthy or difficult command.So after I read the reviews I explained to her it had to be something simple and she just uses the letter of her first name and it opens up every time without issue.She really enjoys this and it was well worth the money spent in my opinion. She loves that she can record greetings and she love love loves the "magic pencil" and being able to write invisible entries. the only thing I think would be better is if they sent a replacement one because that's a big part of the charm of this toy and anyone with kids knows that it is going to be the first thing to get misplaced.Hope this helps anyone on the fence.

It would be 5 stars, except for the fact that when we first received it we couldn't open it. The instructions as well as all of the online resources we found just said to hit the reset button. For some reason this wasn't working for us. I removed the batteries, replaced the batteries, hit the reset button, lathered, rinsed, and repeated several times throughout the day hoping to get lucky and not have to return it. One of the times I hit the reset button, it took and since then we haven't had any problems.The only other negative here is that the invisible ink pen is small and did not last very long... it is replaceable and not entirely necessary to the item so this was actually not a big deal.Now to the positives.The voice recognition system actually works and it was a lot of fun trying in vain to try to trick it to get it open by using different voices to say the password. We are all very pleased with how well it works.Recording the greetings has also been a lot of fun. My daughter sometimes opens and closes it just to hear the pithy little greeting song she recorded.The external build of it is pretty sturdy and I'm sure it will resist plenty of inevitable drops. The outside design and feel of the plastic are good as well. The notebook inside is nice and you should have no trouble finding notebooks to replace it when necessary. The secret compartment is not really a secret when the journal is open, but can be used to store some small trinkets like a necklace, some notes or another little notebook.Our daughter loves it and I wouldn't be surprised if she were still using it this time next year.

I'm very upset with this journal. My 9 year old could not wait to get it and when she finally did we found that it was defective. The door will not open, the reset button does not work to open the door (what the directions tell you to do if it doesn't open) We tried 3 sets of fresh batteries and it will not work. The only thing it does is say "good bye" when you press the blue button. My daughter was so disappointed. I sent it back immediately for a refund. There is nothing worse then to receive a toy in the mail to find out it is defective. One would be suspicious that returns are getting put back on the shelf and re-sold. Or we just have that kind of luck always getting the lemon because the quality in products is just not there anymore.

This was a big hit at our house, but the voice lock is very sensitive, you have to say your password EXACTLY like you set it or it won't work. We ended up having to take the batteries out to reset it lots of times. I guess its a good thing because its really secure, but kinda annoying for parents, lol. Anyway, pretty much a good purchase.

My Granddaughter loves it and I was soooooo worried it would not come in by xmas and how do I explain that to my 7 yr. old granddaughter who wanted this specific Monster High Password Journal sooooooooo bad??? It did come in the Monday before xmas day so and was so excited about it!!! Thank you so much!!! When she told me what she got from Santa over the phone she says: "Gramma it even has voice activation" and "how did Santa know exactly what I wanted?" She is too cute!!!

Bought this for my 6 year old niece. She had a password journal on her Wishlist, and lucky me the Monster High version was cheaper than the regular version. My sister tried to "break into it" unsuccessfully 😂

My daughter really wanted this password journal. It is really cute and we love the secret door but we cannot get it to recognize her voice. We have tried over and over. It will work twice and then stop recognizing her voice. Kind of loses the private appeal.
