Great story!
My son found this book at the library and fell in love! He is now obsessed with skyscrapers and wants to build them when he grows up. We got tired of checking it out of the library constantly so now he has it all to himself.

He's loved it for a few years now
My 5 year old son loves this book. He's loved it for a few years now. The illustrations are remarkable, and the text is beautifully written. I use it in my classroom, as well, to teach figurative language. (I teach 2nd grade.) All of Deborah Hopkinson's books are amazing.

This is an excellent story for children about one of the largest construction projects in the world at that time. It is captivation. It is equally engaging for girls, boys and adults.

Cool, informational text with vivid, Art Deco illustrations.

Missing Important Aspect
Inexplicably the important contribution of Iroquois Ironworkers is not mentioned. Without these sure footed men the building would probably not have gone up.
