AvidFR-5 Single Lever Right or Left, Black/Black

Purchased these to update to a set of Avid BB7 mechanical disc brakes. I had some very old Magura Julies that required a lot of maintenance so I decided to go mechanical plus I really liked the on brake adjustability of the BB7 discs. Very much like the fact that these are ambidirectional L/R use so they can be used on either side. The lever action is what you would expect from a mechanical brake handle and the ergonomics works for me because the brake handles are small and don't get in the way. I ride MTN bikes and wear gloves so that is important for me so I don't get caught up in the space between handle and lever. Mechanism was intuitive and the installation was also simple and quick. Since you just position the brake wire thru the slit in the main body as the lever is pulled forward all the way which exposes the cutout where the metal nipple is inserted and held. The wire needs to remain in that slit in the main part of the brake body and then the adjusting nuts are then rotated so the aligned slits are no longer in alignment so the wire is now captive. Meaning that the slits are moved out of alignment by turning each nut so the wire does not slide out of position. I didn't describe this with the wire already in its cable housing but you can get the gist of that on a bike video on installing new brake cables. Great product and an easy price too.

Great value for the money helps wheelie and Better of a brake lever

I was actually looking for another name brand lever to match the rest of the brakes on my son's (kink) bmx ...but its in back order. I was just going to buy this to hold him over. But the quality seems better than I had expected and the colors match. Worth it.

This is a solid brake lever. Works as it should. Not a 'high performance' part, but a good replacement.

Bikewagon is supposedly one of the biggest bike retailers on the Web, so they should have known better than to pull this B.S. on a customer. I bought the Avid FR-5 Single Brake Lever - Right/Left use (Black) and it was advertised in ALL BLACK with no color. When I received it, the logo was painted silver. The whole reason I bought this was because I wanted it in all black. So don't trust the images or description that people put up because there are a lot of false advertisements.

Replaced old rusty brake level and its looks great,brakes work much better

This was a replacement for a broken lever on my mountain bike. It fits well and works great! It was easy to install and adjust.

Es macht einen guten Eindruck. Ich finde den "kurzen" Bremshebel wie ihn andere kritisieren absolut in Ordnung. Allerdings bekam ich nicht den exakt abgebildeten Bremshebel, das Logo ist bei mir auch weiß und nicht schwarz wie auf den Bildern.

Pro:+ macht einen stabilen Eindruck+ sehr gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis+ leichter Anbau (kommt mit AnleitungContra:- entspricht nicht ganz dem Produktbild (habe den schwarzen Hebel bestellt, Schriftzug ist in Silber)Zusammengefasst handelt es sich um einen sehr guten Bremshebel zu einem unschlagbaren Preis.
