Great gaming laptop...
First time back in over 15 years using a Windows PC and I've got to say I like it. Use the laptop for offshore and gaming wise it's fantastic, played Apex Legends, Doom and GTA5, all look great and play at very high FPS. Battery life is fine when using it for normal use, gaming it runs the battery down quite fast which is to be expected. When gaming the laptop is quite noisy but nothing I can't live with. All in all, great laptop, great for gaming and a decent price.

Nice laptop for gaming, not great for students
I am a student who thought this would be a good idea to buy for coursework and a little gaming on the side. When plugged in and playing games like Civilisation VI or Hearthstone, this thing is great and performs well for its size and thickness. However, when moving away from the charger, this thing becomes harder to use. When gaming the battery only lasts about 90mins at best. It also sounds like a Boeing 747 is taking off if when in a quiet room. You can, of course, put it into silent mode but then it gets hotter than the sun. Also, when at idle, the fan rattle and sounds like it is catching on something. That being said, the keyboard is comfortable and easy to type on. The laptop is thin and light (considering the hardware inside it) and it is a great price. Ryzen CPU is great as well. Webcam would be nice, and the screen isn't very colour accurate either, so not great for productivity.

Excellent gaming laptop
Excellent laptop, plays everything I've thrown at it admirably. It does get a bit loud and toasty on turbo under load. When your not gaming you can set it silent and on battery it will last around the same amount of time as a normal laptop, I've had it run for 8 and a bit hours on battery for general use. It's modern looking and is the same size as a busines ultabook laptop from around 2014The build quality is great, the body is plastic but the screen is a backed by a brushed aluminium which gives a more professional non RGB gamery feel. Great for people who don't need to have a minoture light show from their laptopIt contains plenty of ports which is great to see, including usb c, hdmi and ethernet

Great looking product, issues everywhere though
Asus, I really wanted to like this product; I really did. But you have seriously dropped the ball on this product. Purchased two units for myself and my boyfriend for portable gaming rigs; however between the fan issues on my unit, the EXTREME thermal issues on my unit and the system/fps lags on my boyfriends has made us return these units. My boyfriend could not pay siege for more then 5 minutes without starting to struggle with random FPS and system lags that completely ruined the experience of this system. His unit seemed fine, no weird thermals or indications to what was causing it. Was it a faulty unit, maybe? My unit seemed to come with a loose cooling fan which clipped against the frame of the unit, making me think the thing was about to fall apart! The specs of this machine looked good however I cannot recommend this until Asus figure out what is wrong with these units. Were they just defective units? Probably yeah, but getting two faulty units in the same order is unacceptable I find. Filed for a full return within four hours of using the device.

Overall - good midbudget gaming laptop - but....has issues
Overall a competent gaming on the go/productivity laptop (using it for CAD design in Fusion 360/Solidworks) and some gaming/productivity. Performance in sufficient to run productivity/3d modeling software and classic games or new AAA titles on mid-settings.It's competent and delivers.Form factor is brilliant - nice build quality and finish.Keyboard and touchepad is comfortable - and it has enough ports to plug all the peripherals you need.Saying that - it has issues; big annoyance at the beginning:ASUS software (Armory Core) works and allows for nice hardware control - but out of the box the coloured keyboard backlight didn't work (after install of the laptop)Update of the Asus software (Armory Core + AURA SYNC) within the appliaction made it even worse; the AURA service would crash at startup - causing keyboard/touchepad to stop working.Apparently it's a well known issue (not on just this laptop) - after 3h of fighting with it (installing different versions/doing cleanup of file system/registery) I finally gave up and uinstalled whole AURA control software.Absolute annoyance.

Amazing laptop for the price! Great quality screen and plays games easily without any problem, love the design and great size with the thin bevel on the screen!

No frills power
I've had this laptop for close to a year now and originally bought it for the specs as I just need some power to do some analytics and figured a gaming laptop would be the way to go. I think for the price you get a good amount of hardware which is basically what I was after (though I did get the 16GB version on deal at ~ £900. For any other Data Scientists our there just looking for something with enough grunt to do some moderate lifting then this is a good way to go IMO. I'm not much of a gamer but have played a couple of games on the laptop and it general runs things fine, but not with crazy frame rates if you're in to that. There are a few foibles of the laptop, which tbh I think can be expected at this price for this amount of hardware and wouldn't put me off buying it again for my purposes:- The screen case feels a little flimsy to me, I've had no issues but I don't know if it could handle getting bashed around too well- I had some issues with performance when I enabled Hyper-V for virtualization. This seemed to go away when i disabled and renabled- The screen brightness is a little lacking- The sleep mode seems a little temperamental and won't wake up sometimes, meaning you have to full restart- It is Loud! If you're doing basically other than web browsing the fans really start going and it's the loudest laptop I've ever owned, in fact it's louder than most desktops i've had. I dm this too much, just put my headphones on but it may really bother some people.
