Q: I actually want these for my daughter, do you think the middle area would be too baggy?

I think they would be fine, they would be super cute on a girl and my daughter will def. be wearing them also. They do stretch a bit as very soft cotton but go back to shape after washing :)

Q: What size for a 5 year old boy?

My grandson is 5 and I bought size 4. He is very thin. He wears 4t pants.
