Cressi Apache Aluminum Speargun with Stainless Steel Shaft & Sling - 45cm - 18 Inch

Bought this for a wedding gift for a friend of mine because I had absolutely no idea what else to get him. The reviews all seemed to indicate that it was a reliable, quality speargun that was a good choice for beginners. (Neither of us had ever used one in our lives, as far I know.)When I arrived about a month ago, (very quick delivery, by the way) I took it out of the box and could not tell if it was loaded or not. Honestly, I was too scared to check for fear that I may accidentally shoot myself, my fiancee, or one of our cats. Anyway, when I finally gave it to him he was over the moon; this was clearly a good choice.Also, despite receiving it well over a month ago, I only got the email asking me to rate this the day AFTER I give it to him. That's just spooky, so extra points for that.

Will get you out and spearing fish. I purchased the 75 cm as a first gun. Instructions cover multiple models so it makes it confusing when reading how to load the particular one you buy. Make sure you tighten the tip good and tight or you will strip threads when you shoot through a fish and hit a rock like I did. The single band may be difficult to pull back to the second notch if you don't use proper holding form ( fingers on top thumb on bottom, close as you can to wishbone) or if you are not very strong. If you are new then definitely get this to try it out. If you really like it you will most likely get more spear guns and its good to have a back up or multiple attached to your dive float so you can stay in the action and tend to repairs after your excursion.

First time user shoot my first fish. Fun and easy to use

I love my new gun, I was losing fish from lack of power with my smaller gun because sheep Head are armor plated basically. Haven't lost a fish yet.i don't even try the line it came with. I made my own rigging and it's flawless.

The Bungy holder at the end of the spear broke off on the second shot rendering it useless. I never made it to the water. The safety did not work smoothly or consistantly. Very dissapointed hope they warranty.

This is a great beginner gun, you will most likely need a bungee to properly set the gun up with the line. No crimps included either which was a bummer but I ended up finding some youtube videos of nice knots to use so I could set it up without crimps. I replaced the band on the gun with a more powerful one and the gun is a fish killing machine now! A+

Great for the price, I've had it for about a year and so far so good, I went fishing about 60 times now and catched over 100 fishes with it. The only thing I had to do for maintenance is sharpening the tip. The elastic haven't dried on me yet and is still tight enough to shoot fairly big fish.

I bought the speargun for a trip in Patagonia, after read a few reviews and considering the place in the luggage I decided to go for the 60 cm. The speargun itself looks solid and well constructed, with a reliable lock for the shaft for when it is loaded. But after the first shoot I realize that the size of band has not power enough. I think if you do some modification as adding a second band or another of bigger size it should shot without problem. But with the standard version you will be really lucky if you are able to shot a grouper.
