Gods in Print: Masterpieces of India's Mythological Art

Anyone interested in India and Hindu iconography should get this book, it's wonderful. The quality of the prints is exceptional, and there are a LOT of them. I've been busy lately, so I confess I haven't had time to read much of the text, but I keep the book on my desk and open it several times a week just to admire the prints.

A beautiful book in all it's parts. Beautiful collection of Hindu prints with short but very informative captions. Chapters xplaining the history of print making India also delightful. Even if you re not an expert in indian art this book is the perfect introduction and if you are a fan it will adda twist to your collection. Highly recommended!

This is a beautiful book about an interesting group of prints from India that are not well known outside of India. It is a real treat to see so many images in one place and learn more about these fascinating prints.

Beautiful illustrations.This book provides absolutely beautiful presentations of the prints, large, richly coloured and excellently chosen. The only qualm I'd have is that while there is a fair degree of diversity, at times it felt as though there is not that much variety in the scenes from mythology that are presented but that makes sense given the nature of what were historically mass produced prints and only popular scenes would be chosen. The curators of the book do, however, do an excellent job of exploring how the execution of the same scenes develop over the course of various artistic periods.Amer Singh
