Belle PoqueWomen's Polka Dots Shirt Tops 1950s Retro Short Sleeve Blouse Tops

I’m a 36B. I ordered a Medium. So cute. It is a little see through but with a beige bra it looks great.

I bought this for a Zoom interview but it has become one of my favorite tops paired with a mustard color cardigan. I am 5' 7" and 180 lbs larger in the chest, and the XL fits perfectly (with a little tape to hold it shut around the boobs, but that's pretty standard for all button up shirts when you're a big chested woman.)

I don't have this problem with most off the rack blouses. I am a large/xl mostly because of my 38DD bust, but I also have slightly more muscle and a tiny bit more fat on my arms than most women, so sleeve width/length is important to me. I carry this extra bulk on my arms right at my tricep, so shirt sleeves that hit me there or higher just make me look larger. I love a sleeve on a short sleeved shirt that comes to my bicep. It slims me, but lets me wear short sleeves in the summer. I was hoping this shirt would do that...but OMFG, it's a size/cut nightmare. It's not even alterable to fix.Belle Poque has some great prints and designs that are truly vintage, without being slutty, which is so antithetical to the 1950's, and the WASPY good girl image that was true at that time. However, if you are a small or xs, you will probably have great fit if you are proportional. It's like Belle Poque starts with a tiny size then tries to size up for other sizes and increases the width of the bust and shoulder, but not the length of the bodice and the armscye (armhole) is ridiculously huge. Even though I have somewhat larger arms and boobs, the circumference of my armhole is not congruent with my bust size. I would imagine that is true for most large busted women, except for very heavy women who might carry fat in most places. Belle Poque cannot justify this gigantic armhole size---it is just odd. My shoulders are 15.5" wide and the XL I need for my bust is like a 17" wide shoulder. I have large boobs, I am not an Amazon woman. I get if it were a little wider to accommodate more women, but 1.5-2" is excessive.Now, to the Armscye. It's gigantic with the armhole when I am relaxing down to the bottom of my bra strap on the size. The worst part is that means the sleeve is now only 1" long on the inside of its seam where it attaches to the armscye, which pulls the sleeve in weird way, and then makes the back bulge in another weird way like I am Quasimodo. This armscye problem is the root of the ill fit for this blouse, and I believe the problem with it increases exponentially with size, which is why it's less noticeable on smaller sizes. I wish the sleeve was proportioned right and I would take the armscye in and fix the sleeve, but the way they did it, I don't have any or much extra material and I think trying to take in the armscye will create unintended problems elsewhere. Common Belle Poque, don't you have any large chested women to test this stuff on?

I had to get this shirt, my gma wore one almost identical to it to my parents wedding in 1978. I usually were a size 20-22 and larger in the chest. I got the 2x, it pulled at the buttons and the sleeves were tight around the arm. I returned it and got the 3x. The buttons pull a bit but I safety pinned between a couple and that solved the issue. The sleeves on the 3x fit just like the 2x, still tight but I am keeping it.

Looks more expensive than it is. Hangs well, fits great, flattering. I'm 5'2 , 130 pounds and size medium is perfect on me.

I had to send mine back, it wasn’t at all the correct measurements and it was was white and modern looking instead of pink with polka dots and retro- big difference! It was a bit of an ordeal to send back and I’m still hoping I get a refund. It was a totally different design, always frustrating when ordering through the mail. I bought another shirt from this company before and it was nice, fit really well and was exactly as described. Unfortunately I needed this one for a play so it was really unhelpful 🤦‍♀️In the past I would have reached out to the company before leaving a negative review but I’ve found that they increasingly don’t seem to want to fix things and are okay with negative reviews rather than making things right.
