Mediabridge 16AWG 2-Conductor Speaker Wire (100 Feet, Clear) - Spooled Design with Sequential Foot Markings (Part# SW-16X2-100-CL)

I purchased this 16 Gauge Mediabridge Speaker Wire to replace speaker wire I had been using and piecing together for a system that has grown and evolved over a nearly 20-25 year span. It was definitely time for this replacement!I could not have purchased more economical speaker wire and still received the excellent quality I have come to expect from Mediabridge. The first thing I did was temporarily use my old wiring to immediately ensure that my newly purchased speakers worked at all when I first received them. Then after removing the old wiring, cutting the new Mediabridge wire to correct lengths (which was easy with the features outline below), I temporarily wired up the new speakers before adding banana clips. The combination of the effectiveness of the Mediabridge wire and the age of the speaker wire being replaced resulted in an immediate improvement of the sound quality over the previous sound from the same new speakers.Then I applied  Sewell Silverback Banana Plugs, Dual Screw Lock, 12 Pair (24 Pieces)  and finally added the new Mediabridge wire to my new components. I was extremely happy with the entire outcome of my new system and I feel the Mediabridge speaker wire was a great contributor to the overall excellent sound quality I acheived.The Mediabridge wire is the same color on both sides, but one side has an easily seen, very visible dark blue line down the entire length of the wire in order to ensure at a glance, whether initially connecting or re-checking, the accuracy of the in-phase connection of your speakers. It is continuously easy to just glance at the blue-lined side of the wire, which I connected to the negative posts, to feel confident you have connected all of your speakers correctly with regard to phase. This Mediabridge 16-gauge wire also has printed information in the form of sequential foot markings on the covering of the side of the wire without the blue line to assist you when you are cutting the proper lengths of wire without the need for repeated detailed measuring and remeasuring.With these features, the quality of the wire itself, the excellent sound it provides, and the economical price when compared to other brands and other stores, I don't know what more we could ask for when purchasing speaker wire.Feel confident, happy, and have extra dollars left in your budget when you make your decision to purchase Mediabridge Speaker Wires for your sound system.

For everyone out there worried about buying expensive OFC wire, I'm going to share a bit of real world knowledge. Electrons do not travel "through" a wire, but rather on the surface of each individual strand. Save yourself some money by buying a copper clad aluminum. Same wonderful copper conductive surface, however, you will save weight (aluminum is a lot lighter), save money, and still have speaker wire that performs.That said, Mediabridge is a brand I've been coming to as an electronics installer and DJ, for everything from interconnects to 12 gauge wire to run PA speakers, and anything they provide inbetween. I haven't ever had a problem with any of their products, they're fantastic quality and deliver every time.The wire here is a true 16 gauge, which is nice, the CCA conductors are lightweight, the insulation is supple but protective. This speaker wire would be perfect for automotive and short run household systems (surround sound system in a room, e.g.) I'm pleased with the sound quality, there isn't detectable noise or distortion, even at high volumes. If you're looking to be budget conscious about your stereo install but don't want to sacrifice quality, I recommend this wire to everyone.

Didn't see any sequential foot markings. If I missed them, then they aren't clear enough.To strip the insulation using pliers and a razor blade assuming you don't have wire strippers (either to attach a banana plug or to directly make connections to the receiver/speaker):1) Use a razor blade or a sharp knife to separate the ends of the wire.2) Make a light incision all around 1.5 inches or so from the end. You don't need to get all the way to the copper wire.3) Use pliers to twist the cable in all directions, you'll see that the insulation detaches at the point of incision.4) Once it detaches at the incision, twist and yank the insulation off using the pliers.This method for me worked perfectly, I didn't lose any fibers of copper at all!The speaker wire does its job. I connected my speakers to the receiver with no issues whatsoever and the speakers sound great! (not due to the wires but due to the speakers being good ones :)). Spend your money wisely and get this.

At 10 dollars for 100 feet, it is hard to beat. Walmart, for example, runs much more expensive for cables of a smaller gauge.It is a simple product that does its job incredibly well. It is easy to strip, and a small blue guideline on one of the two strands helps ensure that you connect it properly in each end. Because it is 16-gauge it is fairly difficult to bend along a wall, a door or some such thing, so a cable mold would probably be preferable if you would like the final result to look polished.It produces (conducts, really) great sound. As with many other types of cables, you get basically nothing out of buying some fancy, much more expensive product. Get this instead of buying a more expensive cable that will make no difference and spend that money upgrading something in your system that does matter. I would happily buy this again - it is essentially flawless.
