Is it sturdy enough to serve as a clipboard style writing platform? I'm rarely near a desk when i have to write on it

been using one i got at a conference in early 90's as a loose paper carrier (i use printer paper for my handwritten notes) and as a base for writing at and away from desk on a daily basis ... it's finally wearing out and time to get another. perfect backing for my choices in paper and pens (fine roller ball gel-ink).
