"The Frye Company For more than 153 years, Frye craftsmen have been dedicated to the art of shoemaking, creating modern patterns, discovering materials and even inventing machinery. Rooted in authentic American heritage, The Frye Company uses the best leathers, designs and innovations in the pursuit of timeless, artisanal style. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When homesteading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection. Frye’s mission, to make iconic leather goods that endure, has remained unchanged throughout its storied history. Veronica Bootie We're not exactly sure what it is, but there's something about the Veronica style that gives you a boost and well, attitude. Whatever it is, we know magic when we see it. Trust us. Take these buckle booties, for example, crafted from washed and oiled vintage leather, they have hand-stitched Goodyear welt soles that are durable and waterproof. The finished ankle boots for women are then treated with a heavy acetone wash that is hand antiqued and polished to give each pair a two-tone, worn finish effect."

Fantastic Fryes
Ignore my socks, I'm trying to break in these new Fryes . I am in love with these boots!!! Omg, they're beautiful and comfortable. I have VERY wide feet, and these fit. They're a little snug at the moment, but being leather, they'll soften and stretch. They do slip a bit on the heels, but with socks, they don't. I wear an 8.5, and that's what I ordered, in black toga. Found these babies on sale for $120, so I'm extra happy. This is my 4th pr of Frye boots, and they'll last longer than I will. 🖤 ***UPDATE*** I'm really upset because I discovered a hole on seam on the shaft of the left boot. 😞 Returning them.

Authentic Frye Boot
I had read many reviews on these to make sure these were authentic. They do say made in Mexico. But found out Frye started making their boots outside of the USA many years ago. Many of their models are made in China. Some are made in Mexico. Apparently the region in Mexico where these are produced is well known for boot making. I found the quality of these matches the boots I have bought directly from Frye’s website. The leather is soft. They fit a little snug like most Frye boots but will stretch with wear. I would size up a half a size if you are new to Frye. These boots will last a lifetime. I’ve had my other pair for 8 years and they still look new and fit comfortably. I did buy these on Prime Day and they were $50 cheaper. That’s the best deal I’ve found. I had been watching this boot for a while waiting on a sale on Amazon and Frye’s website. I can’t wait for cooler weather so I can wear these.

Great fit!
I was worried whether these boots would be authentic Frye’s. They are. Came in a logo box with care instructions from Frye. I was worried my arch was too high and boots would be difficult to slip on with no zipper. I did use a shoe horn but boots slipped right on. I wear a size 10. These are size 10. I read about heel slippage. With thin socks on there is no slippage. Color and shine are beautiful. Boots are expensive but I am very glad I bought them!! Very cute and comfortable on day one!!

A little bit tight
The boots are GORGEOUS - but a little tight. I already sized up by 1/2 size & they just need to be broken in now

Poor quality, poor fit, cute look.
Very disappointing! I decided to splurge on a pair of Frye boots but wish I had taken other reviews more seriously. Such cute boots but the toebox is very tight and the heel is super loose (which makes it impossible to walk). The leather is not distressed at all, it is more shiny and the leather on the ankle is thin. Poor quality, poor fit, cute look. Bummer!

Bad bad blisters on my heels from wearing these
Oh my gosh. I love looking at these boots. I do not love wearing these boots. Very very disappointed in this company. These boots are way too expensive to be so darn uncomfortable. I wore them for the first time and the heal slips and rubs on my heels and created the worst blisters that have taken weeks to heal. I don’t know what to do. So much money wasted on a pair of boots that are so uncomfortable. So so very disappointing. Way too tight around the top part of the foot and too loose around the heal and hard to slip your foot into the boot.

Nice boots IF you can get the right fit and well crafted pair.
As another reviewer indicates, whether you like these boots and whether they fit will depend, somewhat, on where they are made - Mexico, India, etc. I've been wearing FRYE boots for years and have (6) other pairs - mostly the engineer style in different colors, heights, and styles. Those are all quality boots I will never wear out. With the exception of one pair, all have been made in the USA and FRYE touts itself STILL as an American Company on their website. That, however, does not appear to be the case any longer and I am left wondering about the quality based on my experience with this boot. I ordered my first pair of these Veronica ankle booties from the FRYE website, due to a discount offer I received from FRYE. My other FRYE boots are size 8 and that is what I ordered. When I received them (the tan color), I found they were made in India and the color and distressing of the leather did not look like the photos on the FRYE website at all. They had a shiny, NOT distressed, finish and the upper leather was very thin. They had damage to one of the toes, so I had FRYE just replace them, as I do love the style. The replacement was also the shinny leather, made in India, and I found this size 8 to be just slightly big, but I've worn them awhile now (with thick socks) and they fit pretty well with just slight slippage at the heel. I ordered my SECOND pair from Amazon in the STONE color in a size 8. The pair I received was made in India and they were too big (even with heavy socks). I returned them for a size 7.5. When I received the 7.5, I found the right boot was smaller than the left (you could place them sole to sole and see the difference) and I could barely squeeze my foot into it, while the left fit well and like a size 8 typically fits me. They also looked like they had been worn, so perhaps already returned by someone for this reason. This pair was also made in India and the color / leather was not like the photo on the website. Even with all this difficulty, I do absolutely love the STYLE, so I returned them and ordered another size 8, which I received yesterday. This pair is made in Mexico and the right boot is really tight across the mid foot area and way too lose in the heel. They did not come in the original FRYE box. The box they came in said the boots had been repackaged because the original box was damaged in transit. This pair also looks like they have been previously worn and are someone else's return - perhaps returned without the FRYE box and then sent to me as if they were new. To further frustrate the situation, this pair also has a cut on the sole of the boot. I rarely write reviews, but am beyond frustrated at this point, because I like the boots and really do want a pair in the stone color that fits and is not damaged in some way. I called Amazon customer support (spoke to a very nice gentleman - Jim) and discussed. He initiated a return for me and said to order another pair and, hopefully, would have better luck. No hassle at all. Most of this isn't Amazon's fault and they have been great to accept the returns and refund my money, but still very frustrating to be having this much difficulty. I have a pair that fits and have broken in nicely, so I know it is possible to get a good fit. At this point, I think it is just the "luck of the draw" so to speak. So, what I have learned is that you might get a pair that fits or you might not - even if you ordered (2) pairs in the same color and size. The size 8 made in India and the size 8 made in Mexico fit very differently. I thought the boots made in Mexico were tighter across the mid foot and more lose at the heel. They were the worst fit for me but might fit better for someone else. Don't expect the leather to look like it does on the website or you will likely be disappointed. What I am seeing are clearly issues of manufacturing and lack of consistency in the leather used AND sizing / fit from different manufacturers FRYE is using. When you are paying almost $300 for a pair of boots, you should expect a high quality boot that comes to you new and in the original box - undamaged. You should expect consistency in sizing among manufacturers and a good, comfortable fit. I would suggest FRYE has some serious quality control issues - at least with this particular boot. Regardless of where they are manufactured, FRYE is ultimately responsible for this.

Fry Leather Ankle Boots - Excellent
Black Smooth Leather, Size 11Made in MexicoNew in Box + authenticity leafletFlawlessI was inititally hesitant to buy these as this is the second pair of Frye boots I have recently bought and thought that maybe another pair is a bit too much to spend on boots. I decided to buy them as, with the supply chain crisis and other global upheavals, perhaps it might be the last time to get this style. I got the last pair of size 11. I haven't worn them yet, tried them on and the leather smell filled the air while I had them on the floor near the couch. Years ago I had a pair of short leather boots with a leather strap and buckle, so this is the replacement for that much loved pair. I had wanted to post a review with images, but one thing and another have put it off (do not have a cellphone), perhaps if I can add photos to my review I will later. In brief I am glad I bought and the money was well spent.I almost forgot, I want to address the loose heel problem several people have commented on. The previous boots with the leather strap and buckle, initially had that issue, in that brand I had bought a size 10, and after I thought they were too big. They were loose and my heel seemed to slip up when I walked, but over a short amount of time the issue resolved. I think the boot molded to my foot.

These boots are made for walking!
Feels like buttah! wear em with cuffed jeans or a floral dress. Fryes are classic at any age. The only thing you should know is that these boots are definitely DARK BROWN and not black. But unless you're scrutinizing them up close, it just doesn't matter.I always 1/2 size up for boots. Better fit. Ankle only "loose" temporarily until you're used to walking in them. No blisters though, just bliss! 💖

Slips off Your heel while walking
I love the look and style of these boots. They are exactly what I was looking for. I also love Frye products in general. Unfortunately I find these boots constantly feel like they are going to slip off when I’m walking in them and it’s not because they are too big. I’m still wearing them around the house debating wether or not to keep them, especially for how expensive they are...

Beautiful but major heel slipping problem
They are beautiful boots, they look like they do in the photo and fit to size but there is a major problem with the loose heel. There is basically no heel support and your heel slips up every time you walk. I kept them because the price was good and I'm hoping with use and heel insoles they might get better but the heel is a serious flaw.

I loved the craftsmanship of these boots but sadly
I loved the craftsmanship of these boots but sadly, the toe box came up incredibly tight despite there being plenty of room around the ankle. I have seen several reviews all claiming that the front of the boot is very tight. Sadly I had to return these but would have kept them had they been wider.
