are these packaged individually?

Yes. Take note. The screws that come with these are way too small. The head on the screw goes right through the hole and your guitar will come crashing down to the floor if you use the screws that are included.

What is the spacing between the screw holes?

2 " Center to center. I mounted mine with the 2 holes in vertical orientation.

What is largest distance possible while adjusting the arms?

I hang two guitars to a wall mounting board. Place two hangers 20" apart, but equidistant from the center of the mounting board. This will give you adequate spacing for two electric or acoustic guitars hanging side by side. Your mounting board only needs to be 34-35" long and 3-4" wide to accommodate the guitar hangers. Most wall studs are 16" on center, so make sure that you drill anchor holes on each end of your mounting board. The distance between each end anchor hole must be 32" on center. Counter sink these holes and use 3-3 1/2" torx head screws to anchor your mounting board into the wall stud. To find the wall, studs use a stud finder and mark where each stud is. Next, use a level for your mounting board and mark off approximately 10-12" from the top of the mounting board to the ceiling. This, off course, is with a conventional ceiling height. Anchor the mounting board to the wall and you are good to go. A tip: If you hang your guitars on the wall instead of storing them in their respective cases, buy a room humidifier to keep your instruments safe and sounding great. Good luck!

Are these solid on the back to use a command strip or hollow ? I am not putting anything heavy on it something very light weight

The backs are hollow, but very sturdy. I can safely hang my heavy Les Paul on them without concern.
