Equate - Heartburn Relief - Acid Reducer, Cimetidine 200 mg, 60 Tablets (Compare to Tagamet HB 200) This product was given to my husband by one of his good friends, Dave, for the relief of acid after eating that spicy food that my hubby likes to eat. Since he started taking it, he decided to buy a larger bottle and add it to his daily vitamins that he takes in the morning.In addition to helping eliminate that heartburn that gets in the way of a good day, there has been an interesting side effect. My husband has been dropping a few pounds. When he asked his friend if that happened to him, he said, "I've dropped ten pounds, and I don't need to lose any more weight." Wow! Why has my husband waited to tell me about that? I'm willing to take this to PREVENT heartburn and perhaps lose a few pounds.I can't wait to find out. Anyway, this will be something that I will keep on hand for heartburn relief, but probably won't add to my daily vitamins UNLESS I see a bunch of weight loss with my husband.

I read a few studies via PubMed that found that cimeditine, being a histamine reducer, could reduce acne. Well, I took it in the amounts that I read about in the studies -- 600mg/day, 800mg/day, 1200mg/day. This did not seem to reduce my acne breakouts, despite the fact that my adult cystic acne has allergic features (like, the cysts are incredibly itchy, worse than mosquito bites; and diphenhydramine/Benadryl cream makes them itch less). I tried 600mg/day for 2 months, upped it to 800mg/day for a month and a half (6 weeks), and finished with 1200mg/day for the last month. Didn't seem to affect the outbreaks or the size, swelling, painfulness of my acne. It did seem to make it a bit less itchy, but I also take other antihistamines for my numerous allergies (grass/tree pollens, molds, dust mites). So maybe it wouldn't have mattered.Works great for heartburn, though. Check labels, though. Taking acid reducers like this can reduce or increase absorption of other oral meds you might be taking.

I used this medicine not for the usual purpose but for an off label one. After public swimming lessons, my son began to develop warts on his hands and feet. The OTC stuff purchased at the store sort of works but it's a slow and unpleasant process that doesn't kill the roots so the warts tend to come back. I read online that Tagamet can kill the virus that causes the warts in the first place and that virus lives in the body and can be spread. So, anyway, I bought a bottle of this and began giving them to my son daily. Within a couple weeks, his warts all began to turn black. At the end of three weeks, they started falling off. One month later, you can barely tell where they were. Very happy about this!!!

These help me when nothing else does.

I use other over the counter acid reducers but this one does a fine job. I'm going to keep it as a regular.

This med is amazing! I've tried absolutely everything and this one is the best! I've handed 1 out here and there to family when they have stomach aches and all have had instant relief! So happy that Amazon offers them!!

I use Cimetidine on my dog, who has mast cell cancer. Mast cell tumors can cause stomach upset in dogs. Cimetidine helps keep my dog's stomach acid under control and has cancer fighting properties. I usually use Tagamet, but I ran out, and there wasn't any available on Amazon that was ready for immediate shipment. I live in Germany and have to rely on the APO system to get certain over the counter drugs from the States. Thats My Status immediately got my order in the mail. It arrived two days ago and the generic Cimetidine works just fine. Thanks!
