Much needed advice from an old friend
I cherish all of Karen Andreola’s books. I am a homeschool mom of six years but just like everyone else I am always learning something new. Karen’s book gives me encouragement and guidance. I tell my husband while I am reading in the evening after all my children have gone to bed that reading her book is a breath of fresh air. She writes as if you are long time old friends having chat over tea on a wrap around porch. Thank you again for this wonderful book! I highly recommend this book along with all her other ones.

Inspiration for the weary mom
This book is like sitting with an old friend after a long day, and having that friend tell you to not grow weary in doing good. If you are the mother who, like me, needs encouragement today, then I think you will appreciate this kind of format. There are little nuggets of wisdom in each chapter combined with scripture, history, poems, and vision for who you will become. There were only a handful of negative reviews for this book, most of which complained that it was not for secular mothers. They would be correct. If you’re not a Christian you will find this book greatly lacking. This book is the Norman Rockwell of homeschooling.... instead of exhausting us with the difficulties of homeschooling and lamenting the realities, we have a fresh set of eyes on what beautiful things can happen, possibly even an idealized version of what life can be. But I don’t buy art that reminds me of the harsh realities of life... I buy art because it reminds me of the beauty that I long for. This is a book of hope. Enjoy it for what it tries to do: raise the bar, give us a vision, and set our expectations high.

An excellent resource for all mothers
This book is filled with so much wisdom for the homeschool mama but I think it’s great for all moms really. Filled with so much patience and grace. I love that it is written in bite sized chunks that you can come to when you are looking for inspiration. It is a Christian forward approach so that is good to know going in. Karen brings a lot of pray filled intention to this book. It is one of my top recommendations for homeschool moms.

A gentle yet powerful read for the homeschooling mom
Although we don’t fully practice the Charlotte Mason method in our homeschool, I found this book to be a timely reminder of what our days can look like if we take a more peaceful approach to learning. Karen Andreola recognizes how important it is for the homeschooling mother to take time for herself and to grow spiritually and culturally so that she can set an example for her children and also breathe new life into the homeschool/family.

Balm to a mother’s heart
I have admired Karen’s Andreola and her contributions to the Charlotte Mason philosophy for a long time. This book is just what a mother needs (for me, anyway) at the end of a long day. The chapters are short, you can pick up and read small bits of encouragement at a time, and while uplifting, it never comes across as unrealistic ideals. There are enough books that are set out to help us do better, but ultimately make me feel as though I don’t measure up. I love the way this book reads, as if chatting with a long time friend, a wise mother that has gone before me. I was hesitant at the higher price for a paperback, but am extremely pleased with the purchase and feel it is absolutely worth every penny. If you’re on the fence, I encourage you to go for it. It won’t disappoint.

Excellent Book, but Spine Came Apart First Time Opened :-(
Okay, I just LOVE this book. As in, I find myself having to read a few chapters before bed every night since I got it. Bad thing is, I'm a super grouchy mom now more than ever--but only because I can't put it down and find myself reading 'til midnight without the sleep necessary for the next day. It is such a counter-cultural way of looking at motherhood and homeschooling, and thus very inspiring. I was a bit upset with the quality of the book though. The first time I opened it, the pages started peeling away from the spine/glue. I've had it about a week, and it's slowly getting worse, so it may hold together for one full reading, but books as good as this, should last a lifetime. It was mailed during a very cold time, so maybe something happened to the glue during shipping?
