Hi, I assume you mean part# 9480 not 9840. The difference is that the 9860 is a mechanical reversing switch for the KBMD-240D Nema 1, DC motor controls. It included a DB resistor to bring the motor to a stop prior to reversing it. The 9480 is a reversing switch for the KBAC package A&B controls. The KBAC controls are a Nema 4X control for AC Motors.
