Facing the Giants [Blu-ray]

Don't you give up. Don't you quit.
I first learned of this movie in a mental hospital where I was a patient battling postpartum mood disorder and suicidal thoughts. One of the aides showed a clip of the "Death crawl" scene. As I watched it I imagined God as the coach and myself as that player yelling "It hurts!" And it did hurt. But as of today I am back home with my family and thriving. I know that God moves in our lives to help us overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. This movie helps inspire us to turn our lives over to God-- and He will make more of them than we can.It brings to mind the words of apostle Jeffrey R. Holland:"Don't you give up. Don't you quit. You keep walking. You keep trying.... Trust God and believe in good things to come". [...]

Low Budget but Big Heart
There are no box office big names in this movie (and the acting is at times stilted), but my son and I thoroughly enjoyed it anyway. Yes, it is Christian, but so are we. Football is really the metaphor. No, God does not take an interest in the outcome of a game, but He does take an interest in the heart of those who play it.

Top Notch (Five Stars)
We became aware of the Kendrick Brothers' movies much later than the making of "Facing the Giants." Our first movie was "Fireproof." we also enjoyed "Fireproof", "War Room" and "Overcomer" so much we decided to go back and watch their earlier movies. With sports playing such a huge role in today's society and so much attention being given to college and pro athletes and teams it is refreshing to see a movie that puts the emphasis where it needs to be. Using sports to build character rather then on winning at all cost.My family is so grateful that the Kendrick Brothers saw the need for good quality entertainment that teaches values and that their efforts are being recognized and appreciated even outside the Christian community.

Excellent movie!
Finally, a family friendly movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat, yet teaches powerful life lessons. I would highly recommend this movie, especially if you have gone through difficult circumstances and you have triumphed, or if you are still waiting to see how your situation is going to work out.

Start of a Christian Dynasty with the Kindred Brothers
This movie shows the power of God in a person's life. This is how God works. You put your faith in Christ Jesus and ask Him to be the Lord of your life; and your life will be bless by the Creator of this universe. God created everything in the heavens and the earth. When we become one of His children (by accepting Christ Jesus) He takes control of our lives and makes us heaven bound for all eternity.

Worth Every Penny
Such a great movie for all ages and does teach valuable lessons along with just classic entertainment. If you have not watched this yet then you must as it will be one you wont forget. If you have kids that like sports or just want to teach them never to give up and to always keep pushing then this is a great movie to show.

NEW FAVORITE OF MY FAVORITES
Since ordering this movie in June, I'll bet I've watched it with and without my two grown sons (32 & 33 years old) no less than 20 times. After watching it with my daughter, she asked to borrow it for her boyfriend's two sons. I think this movie should be shown in schools. It's not just about football or any other sports. It's about believing in God and learning how to believe and seek out the real, special person He made each of us to be. Sure wish I had this when my sons were younger. Because they never really had an earthly father for guidance, I did the best I knew how to do, with the good Lord's help, but I never found anything, book or video, that explained what life's truly about as well as this DVD.Give yourself time to truly absorb it and then watch it with your children and friends because there will be questions. Please, please give your children time and listen closely to what their feelings are on the subject. I believe that even though we work hard at raising our children to follow God's leading, it's very easy to get caught up in the cares of this world. No matter how side-tracked they may get, there's always a way back.Let's try it His way; it's just not working out our way. You think?Absolute best movie I've seen in a very long time. Hopefully, I'll have a passel of grandbabies soon to pass it on to.Thanks, again, Amazon, for shipping my order ahead of time. You're the best!

Finally good TV in Christian movie that encourages, uplift, and strengthens
This movie is amazing! If you are looking for something that is uplifting, that teaches you how to navigate through life's challenges, that propels you to face your Giants, this movie is for you. This movie minister to me in ways that I didn't know I needed ministering to. It is a great family movie. I could just pop it popcorn getting your favorite snacks drawing the family around and watch it that you will walk away and courage, uplifted, and ready to fight every Giant in your life with the help of the Lord!

Story of belief, faith and not giving up.
One of the early Kendrick brothers films. A film about faith and belief and not giving up. Not sure that non-Christians would find it convincing though.

Lessons on Christianity in 'Facing the Giants'
I know on one level this movie is just entertainment and i know that there are some people who will switch off as soon as they realize it has a Christian message in it, but this film deals with some fundamental Christian truths which need to be spoken of more often. The Christian life is not an easy life (it wasn't easy for Jesus or any of the apostles, so why should we expect it to be easy for us). It's a life filled with trials and troubles, and God designs it so in order to bring us closer to Him and make us more like Him.Trouble can often come from the most unexpected of sources, including other Christians and even our best friends. We see how this is best dealt with through patience, love and forgiveness. The things in this world that are given so much hype and attention; in this film, football (but you can name your sport or celebrity) are really not what this world is all about, and we see that dealt with too. Finally, there truly is nothing impossible for God and those who are absolutely faithful and obedient to His will, will often see that, as we see in the film (one cautionary note here however, unlike the movie, God does not always give us exactly what we hope for, but He will give us what is best for us).

Excellent, Inspiring & Encouraging
This is a really good film with a great story. I found it moving, inspiring, encouraging and challenging and one of the best films I have seen in a long time. Whether you watch this film from a Christian standpoint or not, you can get something from it. Yes it is a Christian film with a clear message, but you can still watch it from a purely non Christian standpoint and enjoy it as an entertaining, uplifting story - I know many that have. I'm a Christian myself and intend to share this film with many that I know. Not to ram a message down their throats, but just to share a really great film with a great story. It's well made, well acted and having just seen Fire Proof by the same film makers, they are just getting better and better. Enjoy!
