Wonderful read
I’m glad to have read this book, at this point I’m not sure if it was my research that helped me find this ignorant and book series or if it was recommended but I’m glad to have found it and glad that it supports my understanding of IFA :)

Very good book for Initiates and Non initiates
There are so few books on Ifa that are just plain English and that also share esoteric indigenous information about the Ifa tradition. This book offers a peak into Ifa as it relates to higher consciousness and not just popular views on traditional religion. There is a difference between Lucumi and traditional African expressions of the tradition and this book would help to give more insight into traditional concepts. There needs to be more emphasis on Ori and less on individualized Orishas... This concept alone helps us to embody what Ifa is really about. Ase!

The "Ori" (head; consciousness) is the most important, ...
The "Ori" (head; consciousness) is the most important, insightful and provocative aspect of Ifa theology. Awo Fa'lokun is adept in interpreting its meaning both to non-initiates and for initiates within one of the most substantial spiritual traditions on this planet.

Ori And More
The book goes into depth regarding IFA in Nigeria. Those who practice Lucumi as myself found it to be a wonderful read, as it gives a foundation and helps one understand as to why somethings are done and how different but similar our practices are.

Literally a book about ancient aliens
This book gave me whiplash of the brain. It starts off with very interesting information about Iponri, this is basically the basis of the whole book. Halfway through we take a tinfoil hat conspiratorial turn into utter nonsense, followed by an epilogue of TOTAL nonsense. Not only does he say African cultures couldn’t have built the pyramid because they couldn’t drag blocks (history check: they didn’t and we know they didn’t) but he attributes most of history to aliens from Neptune. I wish I was joking, this guy is nuts. He even says the Sumerians were an ancient race of Neptunian people- total erasure of brown people’s history by a white guy with an African name. That’s right he’s WHITE and renamed himself an African name. This book is so strange, and I think most of it is straight up made up in terms of the biographical stuff. In terms of the Ifa stuff, there are some regional differences so I feel if you’re not familiar with the religion and morality system already this book isn’t for you. Start with Baba Ifa Karade’s simplified works and make your way to this guy later. You’ll have to understand the concepts already to notice the flaws and separate the good from the nonsensical. It’s like a workout for your mind. I don’t reccomend- reader be warned.
