Great price, great camera, higher-than-average quality vacation photos for some amateurs.
Me and my husband bought this camera for our trip to Disney World. We wanted a nicer digital camera but not one that was overly-fancy or overly-expensive. This definitely delivered. It was not bulky and light enough for us to carry on our necks or in our bag around the parks all day. It also seemed very durable, not so delicate that I worried about it knocking around a little or setting it down on a hard surface. As far as quality of the camera itself goes, I think it is great. As a person who doesn't know much about photography, it has a ton of setting on it to make your pictures look however you want them to. Yet I still didn't feel it was overly-complicated so that I didn't feel comfortable using it (that is, if you read the instruction manual before-hand, which I highly recommend, as I learned a ton about features I had no idea existed!) The battery life on it was very much enough for us. We spent all day every day at the parks with it, turning it on whenever we were taking a picture and turning it off when we weren't, and it only died on us on one day. We bought seperately a pack of extra batteries for it, so if you're going to be a crazy heavy user of it in one day, there is a solution for that problem. Overall, I really loved this camera. It did exactly what we wanted it to do. Took nice quality photos of our vacation, for a really decent price. Much better than any of those compact digital cameras I've ever used, but probably not as good as any fancy DSLR camera a photography hobbyist would have. Anyone who is looking for professional quality or something really really fancy in a camera, you may be disappointed. But if you are looking to spend a little amount of money for some higher-than-average quality vacation photos, this is a great choice.

Nice camera, not so nice connectivity directions.
Just received it today, and love the size. All the advantages of multiple lenses, without having to carry and change them out. Very lightweight too, with a nice hand grip. Downloaded the Canon Camera Connect app onto my NFC Android phone. Followed instruction manual and phone and camera were easily connected in about 2 minutes. Downloaded the app onto my Android tablet, and the nightmare began. It took me 3 hours to finally get the camera and tablet connected. The problem was I could not get to the camera screen view as shown in the instruction manual, or in the "easy" set up guide in the app. I don't know if anyone else had this problem, but I am going to give you the five steps that were left out. 1. Close the app on the tablet. 2. Turn on camera 3. Hit the little phone icon next to the menu button. 4. Wait till phone connects to WiFi and follow directions on camera screen 5. Open the app on the tablet. Ta Da! As for the camera, easy to use and takes good photos. I recommend buying a 67 mm adapter, 67 mm uv filter, and that size lens cap to protect the lens front dirt and scratches. No points off the camera because of connectivity set up issues. It was surprisingly difficult to do as compared to the set up for my wifi Nikon dslr.

Nice camera, but I still prefer the SX50
I purchased this to replace my SX50, which had developed a shutter release issue over the last year and thought it would cost more to replace than I wanted to invest. I used the camera for several days and was a bit disappointed. It just wasn't my SX50, and I ended up sending this one back and getting the SX50 repaired. (Canon didn't have the parts to repair it so they sent a replacement, for the standard repair fee of $96.30, plus my cost of $11.50 to ship it to them.) What did I like and not like, as compared to the SX50, which I have always loved? PROS: - lightweight - 16mp sensor vs. 12mp (although I could detect no difference in quality of photos) - larger viewing screen (3 inches vs. 2.8 inches) - ability to take panoramic photos (although I never tried it) - WiFi technology - lots of special effects settings CONS: - doesn't have the rotating flip viewing screen that the SX50 does - when you set the camera at a specific setting such as Macro, it stays at that setting even when you turn the camera off. With the SX50, it goes back to default when you next turn the camera on. I found it annoying when I'd last used Macro and then turned the camera on and didn't notice it was still on Macro and went to take a shot and had to reset it. There were a couple missed shots because of this. - adjusting the exposure is via a dial on top instead of all in the round multi-function button on the back. I would likely have gotten used to this, but it's so much easier when it's all in one spot. - no viewfinder - for RAW users (I have not used it often on my SX50), it doesn't have this capability - it didn't indicate a low battery until it was nearly dead, which was a big difference compared to the SX50, which was always good for quite a few more photos until it shut down. Also, the battery life is much shorter than that of the SX50. On a day of shooting 450-500 photos, I depleted three fully-charged batteries. The SX50 might need a change of battery and might not, under those same conditions. There are other differences, but these are the ones that mattered most to me. All in all, I prefer the SX50 and actually felt like the SX50 produced slightly better images.

Really a solid camera.
Such a great camera. My son has captured some amazing photographs with it. Easy to use. Features are great. The battery hold a charge nicely.

I bought this for my son as a midway point between a compact camera/phone and a full-size SLR so that he would have something that would not take up too much space in a backpack/daypack and yet would give image quality that was comparable. He has had the camera for almost a year now and it has held up very well. Two hunting trips and a vacation later, it is working without a hitch. The image quality is excellent and I am thinking about getting one for myself for those times when I do not need all the features of my Canon 5D. I realize that there is a large trend to use phones for everything and while the cameras on them have improved a lot, they cannot compare to a quality SLR and they never will - physics is simply physics. Having a high quality but compact camera does have its place and when you are trying to save every ounce (g), then something like this has a place. The controls are easy to use and while I have always been a Canon person, that biases me a little but I do not think anyone would be disappointed with this camera and I highly recommend it.

The picture quality is amazing. I compared pictures with the camera I was using and the color of my sons hair went from red (older camera) to blond with the Canon (his actual color). Easily connects to app on phone for transfer. Wish I was able to take pics while recording but not a deal breaker. Zoom is great, image stabilization actually works. Pictures taken zoomed in are actually clear. For the price you can't go wrong with a solid piece of equipment.

simple yet powerful small camera, I use it to carry with me to events (obstacle races, triathlons) where I dont want to bring my reflex with me for various reason (weight, space) there is definitely less control than there is on a reflex, but the image quality is much better than the compacts, and the stabilized zoom is really handy (though at max range you better not shake) subject tracking works quite well if you are stable as well (auto zoom as long as you focus based on captured target)
