Great value if making your own kotatsu
Great value for the money. It comes with the screws need to attach to an L bracket as well as the power cord, which is fabric covered and of nice quality. The heater itself is velvet lined and doesnt feel hot to the touch when on low or medium.Like other reviewers , I made my kotatsu myself from the ikea LACK table, and it is working brilliantly! The whole thing was incredibly easy to make, took 15 min total. Other than the heater, you'll need to purchase the table, 4 L brackets and 4 wood screws, and a comforter. This heater comes with an easy instructions with pictures, 4 screws for the heater, a power cord, and the heater itself

Great price and availability for building your own Kotatsu in the US
So far this heating element has been working great. We built a custom Kotatsu table for this winter in New England and have been using the heating element nearly every night.I've been monitoring the kwh power consumption using a Kill-a-Watt monitor and I've noted that we've been spending about $0.25USD at most when we run the Kotatsu for about 5hrs. All the while we have been able to keep the heat off in the rest of the house and saving quite a bit of money on that front.I have to stress, in the US, you absolutely must buy a step down converter, if not you will send too much voltage to the heating element and risk fire and failure of the heating element.

So cozy......
My boyfriend and I knew we wanted to make a kotatsu for our apartment, so we bought a Hemnes coffee table from Ikea (we didn't like the Lack, and the Hemnes was the perfect height) and I bought the heater and a converter.Got some L brackets and 1" screws from Lowes and mounted this bad boy to the underside of the table. We have a green comforter to toss on it and used the bottom shelf for the top! I'm now writing this review all toasty and stuff. My only issue is the heater clicks every now and again, causing the lights to brighten/dim slightly, probably from the conversion of electricity, but totally worth the comfort. The instructions are in Japanese of course, but totally easy to understand.Time to grab my Switch and never leave once I make my cushions....

The heater works great just like it should
I was lucky I had already had one that had bit the dust after 4 years. The new one I received did not have a power cord with the on/off switch. There was no power cord at all. The 4 screws that attach the heater to the table were not provided. The heater works great just like it should. If you receive all the parts it should be a god product. What is my knowledge of Kotatsu. I married a young lady from Okinawa in 1971 and she demands that we have a Kotasu so I've had a number of different types over the past 47 years.

and was extremely satisfied with this heater
Holy cow this thing rocks! I really don't know why this isn't more popular in the U.S.. I built my own kotatsu, and was extremely satisfied with this heater. There is a very slight vibration/hum but it's only noticeable if you really pay attention to it. The instructions are in Japanese (which I can't read), but the pictures and diagrams are very accurate so it was a breeze to put together. I keep it at the lowest setting, but the metal does NOT get hot to the touch. I really was afraid of hitting it with my foot, but after a few days, I feel comfortable knowing that I won't get burned. The cord seems really heavy duty as well. I'm very happy...and toasty.

Nice and warm
Installed this underneath my Ikea coffee table and put a blanket over it. I used some 1" L brackets from the hardware store. Works great. It's warm but not burning. Very very quiet. It's pricey but hoping I'm paying for Japanese quality and longevity.

Price is kind of high, but works nicely. I like that the fan is quiet and that we can adjust the heat. Works well! My father in law is an electrician and told us we didn’t even need a converter, because even though American voltage is slightly higher it usually is dropped by the time it gets to the house. so we plugged it directly into the wall and it works great.

So toasty
Was bigger than I thought it would be but that's not an issue. Attached it under a Hemnes table from Ikea using 40mm L-brackets and 16mm screws. We left a bit of room between the heater and the table, but I don't think that was necessary. It keeps it warm underneath the kotatsu but isn't hot to the touch. Didn't buy a converter for use in the US and everything seems to be working fine after a month of semi-regular use.
